Active Directory Domain Services


DNS Server
DHCP Server
Objective:
-Install active directory domain services to create users.
-Install DNS Server to create a domain name.
-Install a DHCP server to create a scope of I.P address for clients.
-Join a client computer to server
-Log in a user from client computer.
Things to do Before
Adding Any Server Roles
1. Make sure that device drivers are installed specially your
Network Adapter.
2. Plug a Straight Through Network Cable from your Server
to your Network Switch.
3. Unplug Router and Client Network Cable from network
Switch.
4. Set Server I.P Address.
5. Make Sure that Client (Laptop) LAN/WIFI I.P Address is
Obtained.
6. Join your Client(Laptop) to Workgroup.
How to Install Active
Directory Domain Services
(ADDS)
Go to Server
Manager.
Go to Roles. Then
Click Add Roles.
Click Next.
Click the Active
Directory Domain
Services Box.
Click Add
Required
Features.
Click Next.
Click Next.
Click Install.
Click Close to
Finish. You Have
Successfully
Install your
ADDS.
GREAT!
You have successfully install
Active Directory Domain
Services, you can now install
DNS Server.
How To Install
DNS Server
Go to Server
Manager.
Go to Roles. Then
Click Active
Directory Domain
Services
Click Run the Active Directory
Domain Services Installation
Wizard (dcpromo.exe)
Click Next.
Click Next.
Click Create a
new domain in a
new forest. Then
Click Next.
Type your
Domain name.
Example:
TESDA.COM
Then Click Next.
Set Forest
Functional Level.
Select Windows
Server 2008.
Then Click Next.
Make Sure that
the domain
functional level is
windows server
2008. Then click
Next.
Check DNS
SERVER box.
Then click next.
Click Yes.
Click Next.
Type a
administrator
password. Must
be 8 characters
or Above, with
Capital Letter and
Special Character.
Example: Allow
m3
Then click Next
Click Next.
Installation will
start. Click
Reboot on
completion.
When Computer
restarted it
means that DNS
server
installation is
finished. Relog-in
your computer to
install the next
Role.

You have successfully install
DNS server and create a
domain name, you can now
install the DHCP Server.
How to Install
DHCP Server.
Go to Server
Manager.
Go to Roles. Then
Click Add Roles.
Click Next.
Click DHCP
Server Box. Then
Click Next
Click Next.
Make sure that
your Server I.P
will appear. Then
click Next.
Make sure that Change the
your domain Preferred DNS
name will appear Server I.P to your
in parent server I.P. then
domain. click validate.
When I.p address
appears valid.
Click Next.
Choose WINS is
not required
then Click Next.
Click Add.
Type a starting
You can use your and ending I.P.
domain name as make sure that
a scope name. your server I.P is
outside of your
scope to avoid I.P
conflict.

Make sure that


activate this
scope box is
checked. Then
click Ok.
Click Next.
Disable DHCPv6
then click Next.
Click Use current
Credentials. Click
Next
Click Install.
Click Close to
Finish.
Restart Your
Computer.
Relog-in your
Server then click
the LAN icon in
your Task bar. If
you can see your
domain name in
the status it
means that you
have successfully
Installed your
DHCP Server.

now Create a user for your
client.
How to Create
Users Account
Go to Active
Directory Users Since You’ve
and Computers. already installed
your ADDS,DNS
and DHCP Server
You can now
create a users a
client.
You must create
a Organizational
Unit First before
the users.

Right Click your


Domain Name.
Click new then
Click
Organizational
Unit.
Type
Organizational
Unit Name.
Example:CSS
Uncheck Protect
Container then
click ok.
You have now an
Organizational
Unit. You can
now create a
user Account.
User must create
inside the
Organizational
Unit. Right Click
your
Organizational
Unit, go to New
then click User.
Type the 1st
name, Initial and
the Last name of
a User.
Type the User
Logon name of
the user(take
note the user
logon name of
the user this will
serve as its
username to log
on from client)
then click Next.
Type the user
password. Must
be 8 character or
above, with
capital letter and
a special
character.
Example:
P@ssword

Click Next.
Click Finish.
Great Job!
You have been Successfully
Configured your Server and
Users. Now its time to join
your Client computer to
domain server.
How to Join your
Client(Laptop) to
your Server.
Things to do Before
Joining Client to Server
Establish a Network Connection
1. If you are using Local Area Network (LAN) – Plug a
straight through cable from your switch to your Client.

1. If You are using Wireless Connection for your Client. -


Configure your Router, Make sure to disable router DHCP
Server, Assign Router an I.P address of the same
standard of your server, and make sure that the Router
I.P assigned is outside from the scope of your DHCP
server. Then Plug your Router Network Cable to Network
Switch.
After Establishing a
connection. Point your mouse
cursor to LAN/Wifi Network
Icon in your Taskbar. If you can
see your Domain name in the
status it means that your
computer is now ready to join
in server.
To Join the
computer to
server, Right Click
my computer
then go to
properties.
Click Change
Settings.
Click Change.
Click Domain
then type your
server domain
name. Then Click
ok
Windows
Security will
appear asking
Username and
Password. Type
your Server
Username and
Password.
Server Username
is Automatically
Generated after
Windows Server
Then Click Ok. installation, It is
Administrator by
Default.
If Welcome table
will appear it
means that you
have successfully
join to server.
Click Ok to
Continue.
Click OK.
Click Close.
Click Restart
Now.
After Restart.
Since you’ve
already join to a
domain Server.
You can Now Log
in your Domain
user account
from client. Click
Back.
Click Other User.
Type your user
log on name and
Password. This
Log on name and
Password the
credential of the
user you’ve
created in the
server. Then Click Enter.
The User’s
password must
be changed
before signing in.
Click Ok
Type the new user
password. Must be 8
character or above,
with capital Letter
and a Special
Character.

Example: Allow m3
The User
Password has
been changed.
Click Ok.
Congratulations!
You Have
Successfully Sign
In your User
Account. This
Means that you
have Successfully
Setup your server
and joined your
Client to Server.
Congratulations!
You have successfully
installed and configured a
Domain Server, clients and
users.
