Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the Significance of Indian Hospitality &
Tourism Industry

CIS: India has been a land of Great Kings and Kingdoms and so does Hospitality
of Indians. We believe in the phrase “Atithi Devo Bhava” which means The
guest is the God. Tourism Industry is flourishing as well.
1. Introduction
a. Attention Getter: Significance of Indian Hospitality & Tourism Industry which was
led by Great Luxury Hotels in India.
b. WIIFM: India is well known for it Hospitality throughout the world because of
great culture and tradtions.
c. CIS: India has been a land of Great Kings and Kingdoms and so does Hospitality
of Indians. We believe in the phrase “Atithi Devo Bhava” which means The guest
is the God..
d. Credibility: Being a Hotel Management Graduate and worked in the Hospitality
Industry I am deeply acknowledged by our rich traditions and culture in which a
Guest is always served as a god.
e. Preview: India is a large market for travel and tourism. It offers a diverse
portfolio of niche tourism products - cruises, adventure, medical, wellness, sports,
MICE, eco-tourism, film, rural and religious tourism. India has been recognized
as a destination for spiritual tourism for domestic and international tourists

a. Introduction to Indian Hospitality Industry.
i. Concept of “Atithi Devo Bhava”.
ii. Establishment of First Indian Luxury Hotel in India.
Transition: Indian hospitality has been renowned for centuries as we believed in a phrase
“Atithi Devo Bhawa.” – The guest is the god. We treat our guests like God. However, Indian
luxury hospitality doesn’t have as illustrous past as European counterparts.

Transition: There are some leading and renowned hotel brands in India which has set up a
benchmark in terms of great Hospitality.
c. Tourism Industry in India
i. India is a large market for travel and tourism.
ii. India has been recognized as a destination for spiritual tourism for
domestic and international tourists.
Transition: India is a large market for travel and tourism. It offers a diverse portfolio of
niche tourism products - cruises, adventure, medical, wellness, sports, MICE, eco-tourism,
film, rural and religious tourism. India has been recognized as a destination for spiritual
tourism for domestic and international tourists. In March 2019, Rs 720 crore (US$ 103.02
million) had been allocated by Uttar Pradesh towards strengthening the infrastructure for
tourism.
d. Contribution of Hospitality and Tourism in Indian Economy.
i. Total contribution by travel and tourism sector to India’s GDP is expected
to increase from Rs 15,24,000 crore (US$ 234.03 billion) in 2017 to Rs
32,05,000 crore (US$ 492.21 billion) in 2028.
ii. The launch of several branding and marketing initiatives by the
Government of India such as ‘Incredible India!’ and ‘Athiti Devo Bhava’
has provided a focused impetus to growth.
3. Conclusion
India’s Hospitality and Tourism Industry is flourishing and is something which we can be proud of.
India has seen huge development in this sector especially after the 70’s which led tourism to new
heights. Also it has been contributing to huge extent to the country’s Economy.
