A POSITION PAPER ON THE TOPIC ABORTION

Abortion is ending a pregnancy before the fetus or the unborn child can live
independently outside the mother. This happens approximately before 24 weeks of
pregnancy. Abortion is a crime. Even if it is a fetus, it is still a process of killing
someone who deserves to live. It is a painful topic for women and men who find
themselves facing moral dilemma of whether to terminate a pregnancy. This decision
to have abortion is extremely personal from individuals to individuals. Women that will
undergo abortion must think before doing some actions. This includes not just how
women feels but this might affect the future.
Some people say that abortion is a murder and other objects and say it’s just a fetus.
Abortion is an illegal doing because of it millions of babies die without even being born
to see the world how beautiful it is. It also destroys the lives of helpless, innocent
children especially to countries where abortion has been legalized.
Giving the issue for the topic abortion that early pregnancy leading to abortion. Partial
birth abortion is murder of innocent babies and abomination to basic human rights and
values. No one has the right to take away the life of any person.
According to victim, abortion for her is not an easy decision to make but she thinks for
what the effect of it to her future will be. Even though she did not make her schooling
to college due to financial problem. In the first place, after making love with her
boyfriend she was already thinking that she might be pregnant at the age of 18. Three
weeks later but still her period does not come and that time she was nervous, but she
did not blame herself that she is pregnant. If that happens, her parents might force her
to leave their house. She was still hoping for another week for her period, but she was
disappointed, and she just think that she was an anemic person that causes lack of blood
in her body. She talks to her cousin and pleading her cousin to buy a pregnancy test to
avoid herself confusing about it.
Few days later it was confirmed that she was pregnant, and she was crying the whole
night because she does not know what to do. Her cousin’s advice is to tell her parents
that she got pregnant and explain everything to them. But she disobeyed it because she
was afraid how her parents would react if ever she will confess it. She is the one whom
her parents expecting that can help for their expenses at home.
After knowing that she was pregnant, she consults her best friend about this. But her
friend’s advice was still the same as her cousin said. But if she wants to get rid the child
from her womb and her friend told her to undergo abortion process done at hospitals.
Joanna said that it takes time to be healed and her parents would notice it easy that she
had been pregnant. And the last advice she heard from her best friend was medical
abortion.
She looks for that medicine without letting someone know due to privacy. And after
she take the medicine she also takes soft drinks or even hard drinks every morning. A
few days later the medicine reacts on her body that causes vomiting, feeling sick and
even abdominal discomfort and suffered it for two weeks until her parents know it. She
was confined into the hospital for about 4-5 days and it was said by the doctor that she
had undergone medical abortion and her parents got shock of it, so she explained
everything. After she has been discharging she thinks about what she does. She feels
guilty in aborting her future child, a child that deserves to live.
Some people say that abortion serves as a birth control. Medical abortion is not a safe
way to abort the child in your womb and sometimes it can cause death. Abortion is a
terrible thing, but people tend to do crazy things when they are desperate. It is a very
dangerous process because from time to time it can cause complications in the body.
Mostly teenagers are doing this due to the sin they make, and they are not ready for
being a mother and still depending on their needs in the income of their parents. If they
were not ready why they let themselves to fall from it? And it is not only for the
teenagers it also for some matured couples or adult couples who are not yet ready to
raise the child due to financial stability.
People should be more responsible for their actions instead of choosing the easy way
out of things. And a woman should not kill her own blood, her own baby. There is many
ways to be protected by not having a child but sometimes mistakes happen and should
not risk a child’s life because of that mistake.
