ISSB - General Information
ISSB stands for Inter Services Selection Board. It is a well-reputed board of Pakistan to select
candidates for defense forces of the country in the following:

Army
Air Force
Navy

ISSB has a sophisticated system of selection. It assesses candidates on the basis of their mental,
physical, moral and social skills for selection for the above three categories. Apart from
assessing the general proficiency, it is also ensured that the candidates must have the special
skills to complete their initial training successfully and perform their services during
challenging situations efficiently.

   ISSB SELECTION TEST

Entry Test: The candidates will appear in an entrance test and initial medical examination
before appearing in the ISSB. The short-listed candidates will be called for ISSB.

The ISSB selection process consists three parts:

1. PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTS
Intelligence test
Mechanical test
Personality test
2. OUT DOOR TESTS
Group discussion
Group planning
Group tasks
Command tasks
Individual Obstacles
3. INTERVIEW

Test Places: The candidates are called to ISSB Malir, Kohat, Gujranwala and Quetta
Cantonment or other Test Centers for ISSB tests. The candidates are required to stay for four
days at the Cantonment/Test Center for the tests. All the tests are scheduled to be held at
different days within these four days.

   COURSES OF PAKISTAN ARMY, AIR FORCE & NAVY

There are different courses to join Pakistan Army, Air Force and Navy. You can apply for any of
the courses depending upon your eligibility for the course. The qualified candidates of ISSB are
trained for a specific period of time to prepare them for delivering their services in army, air
force and navy.

The courses/categories to join army, air force and navy are as follows:

The courses of each category (e.g. army, air force, navy) are separately advertised in the
Newspaper.

   ELIGIBILITY FOR ISSB

The citizens of Pakistan or permanent residents of Azad Kashmir or Gilgit Baltistan can apply
for the ISSB if they fulfill the prescribed criteria. The educational criteria, age criteria and
physical consideration vary from course to course. You can view the complete eligibility
criteria for each course on this site.
    DATES AND DEADLINES
The ISSB test for Army, Air Force and Navy are held at varying dates in the year. Normally the
test for each category is advertised twice a year i.e. one time within January to June, 2nd time
within July to December. The dates of the test and advertisement vary from year to year but the
schedule for the upcoming test is given website of ISSB to give applicants a rough idea about
the next test.

The next registration for courses of Army is likely to start in June 2017.

The next registration for courses of Air force is likely to be from 4th July to 18th July 2017.
