Power Consumption
NOTE
The power consumption of a service subrack is calculated based on the following conditions:
l Operating voltage: -53.5 V DC.
l Ambient temperature: 25°C.
l Static power consumption: All ports do not carry any loads and optical modules are not installed on
optical ports.
l Maximum power consumption: All ports fully carry loads.
l Typical power consumption: half of the total value of static power consumption and maximum
power consumption.
l To calculate the actual power consumption, use the Access Network Hardware Configuration
Tool.
l In the case of Access device, power consumption is generally transformed into heat consumption.
Hence, heat consumption (BTU/h) and power consumption (W) can be converted to each other in
the formula: 1 BTU/h = 0.2931 W.

Connect the ground cables properly to guarantee protection against lightening and
interference for the MA5800-X2 subrack. When a Huawei cabinet is installed, the service
subrack is grounded through mounting ears and therefore no separate ground cables are
required. When a third-party cabinet is installed, a separate ground cable is needed to connect
the service subrack to the ground point on the cabinet.
The MA5800-X2 subrack has 2 ground points. One is on the left side panel and the other is in
the middle of the right mounting bracket of the subrack.
The power input end of the MA5800-X2 has a noise filter. The center ground of the noise
filter connects to the subrack, known as the chassis ground or protection ground. Ground the
subrack enclosure securely to divert the induced or leaked current to the ground and improve
the protection against electromagnetic interference.
Use a ground cable to connect the ground point of the subrack enclosure to the ground bar of
the telecommunications room or to the ground directly. It is recommended that the grounding
resistance of the telecommunications room should be less than 10 ohms. Refer to the local
standards before grounding the subrack.

Power Consumption
NOTE
The power consumption of a service subrack is calculated based on the following conditions:
l Operating voltage: -53.5 V DC.
l Ambient temperature: 25°C.
l Static power consumption: All ports are idle, and no optical module is inserted to any optical port.
l Maximum power consumption: All ports are running at full capacity.
l Typical power consumption: half of the total value of the static power consumption and maximum
power consumption.
l To calculate the actual power consumption, use the Access Network Hardware Configuration
Tool.
l The power consumption of access devices is generally transformed into heat consumption.
Therefore, heat consumption (BTU/h) and power consumption (W) can be converted to each other
using this formula: 1 BTU/h = 0.2931 W.
Specification
Item Specification
Function
The functions of the fan tray are as follows:
l Heat dissipation
The fan tray is on the right side of the service subrack to exhaust hot air. The air flow is
from left to right.
l Monitoring
The fan monitoring board detects whether the fans are working in a normal state and
sends the results to the control board periodically.
l Speed adjustment
The rotating speed of the fans can be adjusted manually or automatically based on the
detected temperature.

Figure 7-1 shows the structure of a board (using the H901MPLB board as an example).
l PCB
The PCB houses various functional chips of the board and is the most important part of
the board. The PCB provides indicators, buttons, and ports through the front panel. The
PCB of some boards also provides a position for a daughter board.
NOTE
Different boards provide different indicators, buttons, and ports; not all boards support a daughter
board. For details, see the description of each board.
l Front panel, including ejector levers and plate.
– Ejector levers: used for inserting or removing the board.
– Plate: connects the PCB and the ejector levers. Some labels (such as the bar code
label) can be attached on the plate.

There are 2 types of two-dimensional barcode labels that have different field layouts, as
shown in Figure 7-3 and Figure 7-4.
Item Introduction
Item Part An item number indicates the ID of an item. Huawei's item number is a
number string of 8 to 17 characters, including letters, digits, and special characters
(BOM) such as "-" and "=". An item number is also known as a part number (PN).
The item number of a board is a string of 8 or 12 characters.
Item An item revision refers to the edition of product items which record changes
revision in the technical status of product items. The item revision consists of 1 letter
and 2 digits.
Serial The 16-character serial number use the format of the "last 6 characters of an
number item number (BOM) + 2-character manufacturer vendor code + 2-character
(SN) date code + 6-character sequence number "
NOTE
In a 2-character date code, the first character is the last digit of the year ranging from
2000 to 2009 (for example, "4" represents 2004) or a character ranging from A to Z
that indicates the year from 2010 to 2035 (for example, "B" represents 2011), and the
second character is ranging from 1 to 9 and A to C which indicate the months from
January to December respectively.
The mapping between boards and version V100R015C00 and later versions are provided in
the following table.

Generally, the coaxial cables connected to the E1 port are unbalanced cables with the resistance of 75
ohms; the twisted pairs connected to the E1 port are balanced cables with the resistance of 120 ohms.
The interference source can affect the transmission of analog signals to a great extent. Therefore, the
connection mode and grounding mode must be correct and reliable; otherwise, bit error or error message
about signal loss may occur.
