1. Introduction

1.1. Overview

This document is intended for users of QCAT who need to know how to install, use, and understand the
information provided by QCAT. QCAT is an integrated software package that allows you to decode the
contents of binary log files generated by the Qualcomm Technologies.

QCAT supports performance log packets, mobile events, and logged signaling messages generated by QTI
Dual Mode Subscriber Software (DMSS) and Advanced Mode Subscriber Software (AMSS) targets. These
include packets related to platforms, such as IS-95, IS-2000 Rel 0, 1xEV-DO, WCDMA, GSM, GPRS,
LTE, TD-SCDMA, gpsOne, and Bluetooth.

2. Step by step to learn QCAT

3.1.Download QCTool

Download QXDM and QPST from https://createpoint.qti.qualcomm.com. Click “Tools” to find Qualcomm
tool.

Note: Qualcomm account is required to access the download page.

Also you can access Qualcomm tool by FT folder as below:

3.2.Install QCAT

Click QCAT.06.xx.xx.xx.msi to install.

Please install keep the default settings and complete install.

3.3.QCAT main screen

The main screen of the QCAT application is shown in the following screenshot

QCAT uses a splitter-view user interface with the following views:

Workspace/Log packet list/Configuration (left)

Parsed text/Tree/Analysis view (right)

Message/Search Result (bottom)

3.4.QCAT Window View

QCAT uses a three pane UI; the main window views are:
Left pane – Tabbed view for access to analyzer displays, log packets, and configuration parameters

Right pane – Displays the selected item from the left view
Bottom pane – Tabbed view for messages and exported files

3.5 Open File

Please Click File ->Open File to open log files(*.dlf *isf *.qmdl *.qmdl2 ...) .

3.6 Analyzer Displays

In analyzer displays , you can displays the contents of the current workspace in a hierarchical tree
structure as shown. Clicking a branch of the tree expands it to show the subbranches and individual
displays for the summaries, graphs, histograms, plots, and maps that are stored in this workspace.

Double click one item which you need and QCAT will process data and show the table which you selected.

3.7 Packets

This tab of the left view, called the Log Viewer, displays a list of all log packets in the currently open
log file. When a file is open, the bottom right of the status bar displays the number of packets in the
file.

3.7.1 Log Summay

Goto View->Log Summary. It will show all of type of this log file. The Type is important for you to quick
access corresponding log.

Please click Save to Text to save this log summary. You can search detailed logs and it has log ID(Type) in
text.

3.7.2 Filter

Go to menu-> Edit-> Filter and the GUI will be shown as below.

If you need check IMS SIP message, please open log summary as save in chapter 3.7.1 and search IMS SIP.

You can find IMS SIP message log ID is 0x156E, then go back filter to type 0x156E in LOG ID field. And
make IMS SIP Message is checked then click OK.

Then all of IMS SIP messages will display as below.

3.8 Convert Log to PCAP/TEXT

For sometimes we need to check IMS SS http message, we can convert log to PCAP using QCAT.

Please make sure you have load log in QCAT. Goto Tool->Convert log to PCAP/TEXT.

Then click Run to convert log to pcap format and logs will output in ouput folder. 56 IP. Pcap is the right log
for you to check HTTP logs.

Next you can launch wireshark to open 56 ip. Pcap to check HTTP logs.
