Reading/Language Arts
In Language Arts our learning targets this week have included:
*review of the short “i” vowel sound
*”x” ending sound
*Sight word review
*blending sounds
* SPELLING is going well! We continue to ractice in some way everyday!
*recognizing sentences as a group of words that are a complete idea and have
a capital and a period/question mark.
*Plot– We learned about plot this week. The plot refers to the important
parts of the story. We try to include the important part of the beginning,
middle, and end.
*Subjects: We have talked about the subject of a sentence being who or
what the sentence is about. We have practiced identifying the subject of
sentences.
In writing this week we we wrote a fantasy. We know that in a fantasy
things happen that could not really happen, like animals talking or doing
things that people do. Magic also happens in fantasy. Our job was to write a
story about an animal that needed help or helped do something. We’ve had
some fun ideas!
Science
Math
Math is going very well. Our learning
targets this week have focused on: This week in science we were

Fire Safety
We had a great field trip to the Fire Station. Make sure to check out the
pictures on our website. We learned basic fire safety techniques, saw a
firefighter dressed to fight a fire. We got to see the trucks, equipment, and
spray the hose!
STUDENTS were CHALLENGED to tell you about what they learned. Their
homework was to tell you about it; to ask you to check the smoke detector
batteries; and to talk to you about a FAMILY MEETING PLACE should a fire
occur. I am giving them their coloring book, safety badge, & pencil as a
reward for following through on that assignment!
