OBJECTIVES: 1. To develop an understanding of strategic importance of operations management in


giving competitive edge to the organisation.
2. The new role of the production and operations manager in decision making process.
3. Management systems such as ISO 9000, ISO 14000, OHSAS 18000 and GMP.
4. To get acquainted with advanced knowledge of production management such as
planning, organising, scheduling and controlling aspects of operations management.
