Introduction:
We have gone to visit to AL-Mutamaiz Store to understand the types of
tiling , such as the marble and granite and the differences between them,
the waterjet machine and how it's work.

Also we went to Baras Store to see the types of the ceramic and the
porcelain , to know the coast and how they manage their works with the
clients.

The differences between marble and granite :
1. Granite is stronger than the marble.
2. Granite has more metal (iron )than the marble.
3. Fractions of the granite coherent more than marble.
4. The period of the cutting the granite is more than the marble.
5. The granite is used more than marble.
6. Frequent trampling on the granite, make it polished and shiny, but
the marble will need to polish and refined.
7. The marble has less porous than the granite
8. The marble is more expensive than granite.
9. The marble is more beautiful than granite.
10.Marble is more rare than granite

 Some of the marble and granite are imported from Italy, Spain
,Brazilian ,India ,Egypt France and Turkey.
 The famous locale granite are 20 types ,but the marble 4 types.
 The marble and granite are extracted from rocks sometimes
2*3meters.the period of cutting the marble is half the time of
cutting the granite.
 They cut the rock vertically according to the thickness required .
 Then they polish the surfaces that will appear using diamond
and sand.

The types of marble:


 Indian: cheap, dark colors and many texture, not good quality in
its color(the color can be changed by Detergents) , strong in the
use .
 Egypt: light colors like sand.
 Brazilin: mostly expensive 300$ ,light colors
 Italy: more use especial Krara (in hospitals, clinics and
kitchens)because it doesn't effected by acid ,white color and
sometimes with yellow, the price is in the middle.
 Turkey: rosy and Paige colors.

The size:
 Thickness: for floor 2cm ,for the stairs 3cm
 Dimensions :Usually 40*40cm -60*60cm - 120*120 cm( easier
to load and tiling )
 Wight: The square meters of marble or granite is weighted 50
km

Usage:
 Flooring ,wall ,paneling , coloumns ,and sometimes for ceiling
in a less thickness.

The differences between the local and the imported marble and
granite:

 The local granite has less porous the water than the imported.
 The local granite and marble is more expensive the imported.

The price:
 Square meter of granite coasts 20-50$
 Square meter of marble coasts 50-750$
 The most expensive type of marble is called Mocoba (Brazilian)
coast 750$ \sqm ,because it's extracted from inside the sea ,so it's
difficult to extract.

The water jet:


 Water jet is used to cut stone tiles easily using a high pressure
water stream which slices into the stone. The computer is used to
map out the design like AutoCAD, which stones will be placed
within it, and where the cuts need to be made.
 The result pieces of stone with clean, smooth edges. the pieces will
be joined together into one piece, such as a floor decorative or
border and shipped to the job site.

The price:
 Square meter coasts 250$ and can be more expensive if it has a
complicated shape or many colors (many types of marble).

The differences between ceramic and porcelain:
1. The porcelain is stronger than ceramic.
2. The clay of the porcelain burnt more than the clay of
ceramic
3. The back of the porcelain is white ,but the ceramic is red.
4. The way of the cut the porcelain by lazier but the ceramic by
blocks.
5. The porous of the porcelain is more than ceramic.
6. During the tiling ,the porcelain is tiling with special glue,but
the ceramic is tiling with cement.
7. Before the tiling ,the ceramic must put in the water ,but the
porcelain not ,because of the back surface.

The size:
 Thickness:5mm for walls, 8mm for floor.

How to know the best ceramic and porcelain:


1. The top layer must be in high quality.
2. The back surface of the tile.
3. The density of the tile (if it's heavy that's mean it's good).
