MEMO

The topic I picked was a review on the Disney choices to do remakes of the Disney classic movies. The reason I
picked this was because I don’t think that some of these remakes meet the same standards the originals do. I am also
frustrated because kids today will grow up watching less of the originals since Disney has decided to replace a lot of
them. For me what I thought was the most difficult was the response letter since your trying to write as someone else. I
also had a hard time picking my topic. The part I did enjoy was that I was able to say what I was thinking while causing
no real conflict. While evaluating my finished project the one thing I would change is I would narrow down my topic and
only talk about one movie specifically. Overall I enjoyed this project and I have learned a lot.

Walt Disney
The Lion King Remake Review
Disney

Dear Walt Disney,

This letter is to complain about the remakes of the older Disney movies that your company has been creating. I
understand when it comes to remaking movies the movie industry just wants to improve the movies with the latest
technology that they didn’t have access to back then. Growing up as a 90’s baby I watched all the Disney movies on VHS
repeatedly. Since I grew up watching all these classics I have become very frustrated to learn that Disney has decided to
start remakes of all these classics. I believe that there is no reason for these movies to be remade and it’s upsetting to
see that all these older films will have become replaced by live action remakes.

I dislike that with all these remakes because the writers don’t follow the exact storyline from the original film. For example looking
at the Live-action Lion King they cut out scenes, added new scenes, left out some songs from the original movie, and didn’t pick the
same actors for the roles of these iconic characters. It’s sad that all these movies seem to be not good enough for people now a
days. Disney is now more interested in live action instead of cartoons and are more interested in money than caring about how the
remake will actually be. It’s sad to see that all these young kids are going to grow up knowing The Lion King with the real animals
instead of the classic cartoon one. This is especially sad to me because The Lion King was my favorite movie and my favorite parts of
the movie were cut out and to be honest if I was a little kid watching that movie I would have been scared to see how the real
animals look and fight.

A great alternative to these re make would be creating movies about the back story of all these Disney classics. Your
writers could create a movie about the theory of the boat in The Little Mermaid movie and how it could be related to
Anna and Elsa parent’s shipwreck and also how Tarzan could be Anna and Elsa’s long lost brother.

In the end I disagree with all these remakes and it seems like Disney is only doing it for the money and not trying to
create other great movies like they have in the past.

Sincerely,

Carolyn Giron

Dear Carolyn Giron,

I am sincerely sorry to hear that you are upset about these upcoming remakes. I can assure you that we never meant to
replace the Disney Classics. Our company views these movies as s success but, I assure you we are not doing it just for
the money. We just thought it would be a new creative spin on the older movies.

When we are working on the remakes my team and I will work to making sure that the remake is as close as possible to
the old story line. I will talk with the writers and see if we can try to add all the original work into the remake and make
sure to add as little new stuff to the story line as possible. My team of writers would also like to apologize for The Lion
King remake and the few scenes that were cut out it is unfortunate that one of those was your favorite scene.

I will also bring it to the writer’s attention your suggestion to create movies about the back stories of the classics. That
would be a good story line that would please a lot of Disney fans and movie-goers. We have thought a little bit about
connecting The Little Mermaids movie to Anna and Elsa’s parents shipwreck as well as connecting Tarzan as Anna and
Elsa’s long-lost brother. I will talk with my team and hope to come up with some new ideas for new movies and I will
rethink how we make our lave action remakes. Going forward we will try to focus on coming up with new movie story
lines and new characters. Thank you for your feedback it is much appreciated.

Sincerely,

Walt Disney
