I. Introduction

Essential to any social institution that the individuals ought to have a reasonable recognition about
technology that will encourage more extensive participation.

Technology is described as a body of knowledge devoted to creating tools, processing actions and the
extracting of materials.

The researchers conducted their research in order to know if technology encourages the respondents
for broader community participation, and if the respondents are agree or disagree with it. It is important for
the researchers to know if the use of technology encourages the respondents for broader community
participation because as we all know the communities today are based more on technology. The research
focuses on the students who are using technology for their community participation. This involves a survey
for those who are students of Technological Institute of the Philippines – Manila Campus. The selection of
respondents are only limited to 100 respondents since there are many students in Technological Institute of
the Philippines – Manila Campus.

II. Objectives

General objective

To evaluate if technology encourages the students of Technological Institute of the Philippines –


Manila Campus for broader community participation in their personal lives and to identify ways of how
can it be more effective.

Specific objectives

• To identify what are the effects of technology in community participation in their lives.
• To determine how students uses technology for community participation.
• To assess the impact of technology in the students community participation.
• To identify if the students are satisfied in using technology as their medium in community
participation.
• To evaluate if technology is an effective medium for community participation.

IV. Results, Discussion, and Interpretation

Profile of the respondents:

Our target population is the College students that are currently enrolled and studying. We only get 100
samples from our total population because it is instructed by the research adviser. As the table shows, there
are 44% of male respondents and 51% women respondents. Our group of respondents for the study came
from Technological Institute of the Philippines.
The table shows the age of the respondents in percentage form. 17 years old with 2%, 18 years old
with 14%, 19 years old with 42%, 20 years old with 30%, 21 years old with 3%, 22 years old with 2% and
24 years old with 2%.

Survey Question and Discussion:

After the allotted time came to a close the results of the responses from the survey, the data from the
app and the additional survey, relationship satisfaction, was analyzed. The survey provided very good
insight into the technological participation of the respondents. The graph shows the respondents take on
technology encourages broader community participation with an average score weight of 83%. The findings
imply that most of the students studying in Technological Institute of the Philippines – Manila Campus
“Agree” that technology encourages connection, participation and initiation in a community. The respondents
agree Because technology is capable of connecting people or a community in a very easier way. With just
one click you are already connected to the world through the use of internet and mobile devices. On the
other hand, Some of the students with an average score weight of 11% “Disagree” because they think
technology don’t encourage enough in the participation because of the thought that people started living
without technology.
Summary, Conclusions, and Recommendations

SUMMARY

Technology is described as a body of knowledge devoted to creating tools, processing actions and the
extracting of materials. The objectives of the study were achieved because the result of the survey indicates
that technology is capable of connecting people or a community in a very easier way. Also, it is clearly stated
that the technology has been satisfied and effective tool for encouraging them for a community participation
which will be a great help for the development of the community. The researchers were able to prove that
technology encourages broader community participation.

CONCLUSION

In this chapter we focused on the role of technology on how encourage the respondents for broader
community participation. The researchers conducted their research that involves a survey for those who are
students of Technological Institute of the Philippines – Manila Campus. The result of the survey provided
very good insight of the respondents.

The researchers observed that there are good and bad effects of using technology as a tool for
encouraging the respondents for community participation. The good effect of using technology is that it is
capable of connecting people or a community in a very easier way. With just one click you are already
connected to the world through the use of internet and mobile devices. And the bad effects is that they think
technology don’t encourage enough in the participation because of the thought that people started living
without technology.

The researchers conclude that using a technology is effective and gives a major impact in encouraging
the respondents for broader community participation.

RECOMMENDATIONS

It is a basic knowledge that the students and communities today are based more on technology and
because of that the researchers’ wants to recommend allowing the students to use technology for it will be a
great help in encouraging those students in community participation. Technology became necessary in
everyday life in order to identify some ways of how can it be more effective.

With the use of technology as a tool for encouraging it will capable of connecting people or a
community in a very easier way and it will enhance effective participation and involvement. The researcher
also recommend to create some strategic planning tools like utilizing social media or any other
communication and engagement strategy in order to have some broader understanding and development of
using technology as a tool for the potential engagement for community participation.
