Basic Restaurant Know – How

If you work as a bushes , host / server you’re called as the direct front of
house , you’ll directly communicate with our restaurant customer’s , it’s the most
important job / position in restaurant industry , your location would be at the
DINNING ROOM FLOOR

But if you ‘re a cook , dish washer / chef you’re called as the back house
employee , this kind of job also will become the most important job in the
restaurant but you’ll not connect to the customer directly , somehow you’ll service
them with a very good food and will provide the customer a very clean utensils

Both of them have the same purpose of working , to make a customer satisfied ,

why ?

Because if customer were satisfied of what they got from the restaurant of
course they will tell their friend about the restaurant , and we will got new
customer everyday ,

Working at the restaurant has the most important job , they have to be
curtsies with one of each workers at the restaurant , that’s how they could work
together at the restaurant as a teammate and could achieve the goal

The basic of employees working at the restaurant :

Learn people’s name and say “hi” to everyone if you see them at the beginning
of your shift
Arrive at work 15-30 minutes before your shift start so you could prepare
your grooming before you started to work
Always eat before you come to work / before start working because working
at the restaurant could be tiring and you need to be energize so the
customer doesn’t have any regret coming to the restaurant
Safety is the top priority , always make sure the wet is clean ( NO SPILL
WATER ) If there’s a spill water , you have to take the yellow sign so the
customer would aware that the floor is wet , running at the restaurant is
strictly forbidden cause it will cause a hit to each other , and if the yellow
sign isn’t at near you , you should ask another friend to help you to stand by
to see people / customer didn’t run / pass over there , so there will be no
customer get injured

People in the restaurant are move quickly carrying glass and ceramic dishes ,
if you’re passing them behind or beside them you should shout of say “
beside you Or “ behind you “ because if you didn’t do that people wouldn’t
know if you’re passing them , people will do the same thing if they pass you ,
and you should reply with “ heard you “, because it’ll help them to know that
you’re aware that they’re going to pass by you , and it’ll prevent a fallen glass
/ ceramic

Walking quickly is fine but running is unsafe , never run at the restaurant
Cleanliness is the most important thing that you should consider of , even a
slight of sanitation could cause an illness for the customer including the
young children and for who have some health issues
Restaurant should be safe and welcoming to all regardless their age and
health condition
Wash your hand frequently always wash your hand after going to the
bathroom and before eating because it’ll help a lot of people to follow a good
example
Cover sneeze with arm to prevent virus going to the food
Gum chewing is not allowed
Never eat where food are prepare , eat snack / food at the designed areas
Dry cleaning cloth & wet cleaning cloth should be put inside each pail because
they need to stay inside the sanitation water , leaving wet cloth in any
services against health code
Common front of house sanitation involve personal hygiene , overflowing
trash bin , wash hand inappropriate , placing personal belongings on proper
places, health inspector can walk in the restaurant at any time , always be
prepare
Restaurant job are unlike office kind of work ,the working time is not from
9:00 AM-17:00 PM but the restaurant kind time will follow the schedule or
the booking that the restaurant have on your shift day , sometimes you could
come home fast but sometimes you could stay late at your working space

Restaurant in a week earns profit for 3%-6% , so if the restaurant


have a discount for 1 dollar the restaurant will only have for 3-6 cent , more
from that money they will use it for paying the worker’s salary , buying
monthly veggies or the electricity payment , if possible workers are
forbidden to broke any glass / ceramic things ,
so that the restaurant will still have the profit , taking the food from the
pantry will also make the restaurant have extra payment so it’ll make the
restaurant doesn’t have the profit , and may make the restaurant in a
terrible places
Always stay busy at your shift and always make something positive
during your shift , if you finish all your work during the shift , try to see if
there’s a friend who might need help with their work , so you could help them
and make something positive & always make the co- environment clean & safe
We take pride in our restaurant and guest notice , helpless are keep
running smoothly by arriving ready to work , being courteous and kind to your
co-workers , being safe and sanitary , and busy through your shift ,

The most important thing to remember :


 Be carefull not to break glasses and dishes
 Always stay busy trough your shift , find a way to make
restarant always clean and ready fr the next guest , this could
mean folding napkin
 , polishing silver wear , finding something to wipe down or dust ,
or stocking something like ice and plates , or ask your manager
what they need to be help with
