 CHAPTER I

Job Security of Home-based tutor ESL Company

Background of the study

Looking for a job is easy for some people and it also depends on their abilities and

experiences. Companies has their own requirements in looking for the night employee to be part

of their industries but they should also know that applicants has their own requirements too and

that includes compensation offer, benefit and the most important thing in any kind of industry is

job security. Applicants and employees are looking for a job that can sustain their everyday

needs and to be able to do that they need to have a secure job that they can stay longer and grow

longer with.

Job Security is a must to any kind of jobs. Now there has a job which had been very

famous lately and this is a work from home. One of the most trending job in this kind of industry

is being an online teacher and this course is called ESL English as a second language. This job is

really convenient for people who studies and work at the same time and of course to those

parents specially those single parents who cannot leave their children without a nanny. This kind

of job is very popular that most company acquire different types of job that you can work from

home even some BPO are already having home-base employees life sales, billing, and more.

Most Pilipino people prefer this kind of job because they have control and freedom to choose

their own schedules and at the same time they get compensated really well.

The company Acadsoc was established in the year 2014. They aspire to become China’s

largest English learning platform offering the most comprehensive range of English courses.

This company aims to bring learners studies to life through their interactive teaching experience.
It was said that most English teachers in china was not very effective and not very

knowledgeable for most students. That’s the reason they started to look for foreign teacher so

people or students can learn even in long distance with the use of online books materials. They

also have their own trainings and programs for the teachers as applicants who passed the

qualification.

Some home-based employees consider themselves as self employed but not all

employees are aware of that and job security can be an issue to workers who wants to work from

home as full time employee. Even if they offer a good compensation and incentive, it is still not

enough for those employees to change their job in the near future for more secure profession.

The purpose of this study is to make companies and employees to be more aware of job

security. Acadsoc needs to have a clearer concept in their job offering. Since this company caters

home-base employees. They should have more secure job especially if they are planning to grow

in this industry. We wanted to know more about how an employee can get a secure job working

at home.

Scope and limitation

The scope and limitation will focus mainly on job security and its employee’s

compensations, incentives, tenureship and promotions which are very important in any work

industry. The selected respondents will be the employees who are currently working at Acadsoc

as a home-base teacher and those applicants who are interested to work from home in the future.

The research will be conducted on June 2017-Feb 2018 thru online survey.
Significance of the study

The study is significant to the following, so they will give more importance and

understand the impact of job security in each employee who works from home specifically

online teachers who plans to work for a long period of time.

EMPLOYEES

Some employees are not aware to their job security especially on benefits and contract

(contractual or permanent). This study will let employees to know more about the long term for a

much secured future.

MANAGEMENT

This study will give them perspective that job security is a constant variable that

interferes with the firm’s efficient working. Secure employment means a stable employment

relation that encourages investment in having more motivation for workers and the productivity

of the firm.

CLIENTS

It helps the clients to trust the employees because of a long term relationship between the

teachers and their student not only that, because of job security, great employees will meet

difficult clients and will be able to handle it more effectively in the future. The given data would

help them formulate some preventive measures to help their employees have more secured job in

the future.
FUTURE RESEARCHERS

It can be used as a reference for future researchers or thesis that may be conducted in the

future. Enriching and enlarging the knowledge of English Education practitioners in making

policies and arranging curriculum or lecturers’ method in teaching.

STUDENTS

The results will provide the students with some knowledge on Job security and how it can

be useful in their future profession. It will give the student’s a realization that Job security is

useful to both the employee and the companies. At the end of this study students would finally

know why it is important to have a secured job in the future.
