CONSTRUCTION FEATUBES
Ballast Housing-The die cast aluminum housing provides a
counterbalanced mounting, excellent heatdissipation, and
ease of maintenance. The pivotal axis and mounting location
of the trunnion (yoke) attachment allows even distribution of
the assemblies' wejght, lor maximum counterbalance with a
minimurn of lifting force, throughout the unit's full aiming range.
The ballast and capacitor mounting arrangement provide
maximum heat conductivity to the outer surfaces of the
housing for cooler operation of all electrical components. A
weatherprool and thermally controlled cable strain relief
connector allows use of 75'C rated cords. All luminaires are
equipped with three foot length #14 AWG/3 conductor type
SOW-A cord. A rear housing cover, held in place by (4) captive
stainless steel screws, can be hinged to fully expose all
electrical components for visual inspection or maintenance,
and is completely removable if necessary. A .125" thick
aluminum mounting bridge is provided on all remote models in
lieu of the integral ballast housing. An aluminum wiring and
splice box, pre-wired with 3'length cord, is included. The
prewired junction box is designed to provide cooler operation
and use of 75"C temperature rated cord. Junction box will also
serve as handle ro pivot ruminaire during aining process.
Socket Housing-A unique die cast aluminum socket
housing is attached to ballast housing at three points. A half
inch air space separation minimizes any heat transfer between
socket housing and ballast components. Each socket housing
is equipped with a permanently sealed breather to stabilize
atmospheric pressure changes during heatjng and cooling
cycles of the luminaire. All air displacement is filtered and free
of any pollutants that would normally contaminate the optical
assembly.
Optical Assembly-21 " diameter reflectors are anodized to
provide NEl./A Type 2,3,4,5 or 6 beam spreads. The reflectors
are spun aluminum, end punched and sphero-parabolic
shapes. The retlector lace is extended with a 2" engraved
inner surface area. The extended engraved area provides
glare control and cutoff of the light pattern and also secures an
optional internally installed concentric louver assembly. The
lens is clear, tlat, heat-resistant and tempered, high strength
glass. The hinged stainless steel lens frame and one-piece
silicone rubber gasket is secured to the reflector with captive
stainless stee{ hardware to ensure a fully sealed optical
system. An optionai heavy duty housing can be supplied for
maximum ref lector protection.
lndex and Mounting-All units are equipped with a vertical
degree calibrated quadrant plate and repositioning device. A
single index bolt seats quadrant plate and provides a positive
reposilioning stop, returning luminaire to original aiming angle.
A .250" thick steel trunnion (yoke) bracket is secured by two
pivot locking bolts. Optional crossarm mounting fitting with
horizontal degree scale or a 2" pipe slipfitter assembly is
available. All integral models have built-in visual aiming sights.
Lampholders-Enciosed glazed porcelain socket with spring
loaded, nickel-plated center contact and reinforced lamp grip
screw shell. An optiional lamp grip device, factory installed, is
also available to increase lamp grip and centering support of
the glass envelope.
Finish-Ballast socket housings and trunnion have a gray
baked-on paint tinish.
Lamp-Accommodates the following H.l.D. sources: Metal
Halide-1000W and 1500W; High Pressure Sodium-1000W
lntegral Ballast Starting rated to 20'F. l\.4etal Halideand
High Pressure Sodium ballasts are HPF constant wattage
autotransformer (CWA) type. High Pressure Sodium ballasts
utilize an electronic starter circuit.
