IceWarp Server 11.2 – Admin News

Outlook Sync Upgrade Warning

Version 11.2 improves how meeting invitations are handled. They are now automatically created in each attendee’s
calendar in addition to the iMIP email being sent. This modern protocol extension restores compatibility with
the Calendar in OS X 10.10 Yosemite. However, it is not compatible with Outlook Sync prior to version 11.1. Users
in this situation would have new meeting invitations duplicated in their calendar. We strongly recommend upgrading
your client applications before you proceed with server upgrade. The latest Outlook Sync installer is available on
our website https://www.icewarp.com/downloads/client/

WebClient Telemetry
Optional telemetry collects anonymous information about how users utilize the interface and features
of WebClient. The impact this has on bandwidth or performance is insignificant. Statistics are gathered
on the server and sent in a compressed form for all the users’ daily activity. Understanding how users work
will help us to make future versions of IceWarp even more intuitive. You can completely opt out from the telemetry
by unchecking the corresponding option during setup. Reinstall and check the option to enable telemetry again.

Pool Management
Messages going to one domain are aggregated and sent together, which also allows for throttling the sending/
receiving speed. Internal outgoing queues are sorted by Priority (0-4) with different sending speeds. Administrators
can see current message priority in the Message Queue section of the administration console. Priority flags are
respected and normal email is prioritized over mailing lists, backup domains, distributed domains and any retries.
When sending limits for messages sent from/to one local/remote domain are specified in number of messages
per minute, emails are held in the retry queue for as long as is necessary.

New Installation Defaults

We have updated the default settings of new installations to correspond with the best practices used by our
customers. Use File – API Console to find the meaning of each variable or to change the default value.

HTML5 WebAdmin
The new HTML5 WebAdmin will be rolled out in several stages. The current version fully covers the domain
administrator’s agenda - creating and configuring user accounts, groups and mailing lists. Server management
will come in the next release in August 2015. Until then, the old PHP WebAdmin is still available
at http://<yourdomain>/admin/old. This staged approach not only helps users to transition at their own
pace, but allows us to quickly push out new releases, test and iterate based on users’ feedback.

IceWarp to IceWarp Migrator

The new migration tool has been added as a new tab into the administration console System – Tools – Server
Migration section and is also available as a standalone tool for the previous server version. The migrator lets
you move the local installation you are running it from (source) including all data to a new server or to the cloud
(target). The source requires version 11.1 or newer, the target installations require version 11.2 or newer. Copying
the bulk of the existing data can take up to a few days when users are still accessing the old server. After that,
the tool will make a final sweep of any data that has changed. This helps to keep service downtime to a minimum.

Enforce SSL/TLS on submission port

We have added a switch to require users connecting to the MSA port (587) to use STARTTLS. This ensures
that every email must be sent over secure connection. The secondary port incorrect command does not lead
to socket disconnect.

IP-based Access Control to Self-Signup

Through a new <signup_ips> section of server.xml, you now have the ability to restrict access to the self-signup
function of WebClient by client IP address, allowing access to WebClient from anywhere, but only allowing signup
from within your own network, either from a list of IPs or subnets using the CIDR scheme.

WebClient Import/Export Tools

The options to import from standard CSV, vCard and vCalendar formats have been made clearer with more
instructions. The contact export now allows you to select a date format, for instance for anniversaries.

Exclude GAL from Auto-Complete

Added to WebClient Administrator Options is a new option to exclude Global Address List contacts
from auto-complete, which is useful when the GAL search takes too long to search a huge GAL before
it returns the user-defined addresses.

More Variables in Company Signatures

The whole company can be easily set up to use a common signature template for all WebClient users by taking
advantage of variables in the signature builder. In 11.2, it is possible to include any details from a user’s My Details
card or from Active Directory.
