One Saturday afternoon, I, together with my classmates,
attended a Cybercrime Awareness Seminar which was held by the university for us to be aware about the topic. It was great and I was very thankful to have such seminar because it was very informative and very beneficial to us. It discussed about what is cybercrime, how does it affects to one’s life and how to defend their rights as with those victims on hacking, cyberbullying, cyber-extortion, pornography, child trafficking, and other crimes. I learned a lot from that. There were instances that I did not aware that it was already a cybercrime, but now I know. I was glad for having those informations that I learned from the said seminar. I realized that sometimes we need to be aware of everything that happens on our sorroundings eventhough we are not the one who is involved because there were many instances that because of our ignorance we can’t do nothing good for our fellowmen especially to those who are in need. I believed that “ignorance excuses no one.” So, it was my great pleasure to attend such kind of seminar. Thank you very much to the speakers and the facilitators. GERI ANGELIC B. RIVER TOUR
Once in my life, I was very excited when our instructor
announced to us to have a River Tour in the city. I have a feeling that this will be exciting since this will be my first time to ride a river taxi.
On Saturday early in the morning, the time came. I felt like I
want to back out especially that I heard rumors that there is a Giant Monster Fish live in the Cagayan de Oro River. I was scared of knowing that because I imagined something which was scary if the giant monster fish is true. But I really forced myself and Yes! I did it with no regrets.
When I stepped on a river taxi, I had a mixed feeling –
excitement, scared, curiosity. But this was it – no turning back. What I did was “nag-pray nalang”. But you know what? When the boat began to move for the tour, I was amazed of the views that we passed by. I had seen a lot of beautiful and unexpected views in which I forgot everything which are scary. As what I had seen, it seemed that nothing was happened as traumatic as what typhoon Sendong had done in the city. I learned some informations about the story on the place during the typhoon Sendong. Though I heard and watched already from the news about that but still I was curious to know the pitiful situations of the people who were the victims of the said calamity. I was very touched of the situation that I almost became emotional even it was already past. But anyway, it was great and I enjoyed myself watching the views and hearing different stories about GERI ANGELIC B. MANGMANG BS in Pharmacy I-C
the river. Though I did not see the Giant Monster Fish in person but still I halfway believed the story. I was glad when I saw the river as beautiful and clean.
On the other hand, I realized that sometimes people did not
aware of his contibution that might be the cause of environmental calamity. Like for instance, the proper waste disposal. Some people throw his waste (a single plastic) and say, “gamay ra bitaw ni”. Don’t they know that a single plastic thrown by a person will be multiplied to the huge number of population we had on the country it will produce plenty of garbage thrown everywhere especially to the river. This wrongdoing of people might be the cause of losing our lives. So, as a student in my own little way I started myself to discipline and to do the right thing to help conserve our natural resources because I believe the saying “We reap on what we sow.” I will be a model for our neighbors until they will be influenced and well-disciplined on protecting our environment.
