Installation Instructions - Three core heat-shrink breakout kit

T-HSBK-DR2K
Only to be used on unarmoured three core cable with individual copper wire screen.
Only to be used in combination with Euromold separable connectors with groundlead (/G)
or with terminations.

This product should be installed only by competent personnel trained in good safety practices involving
high voltage electrical equipment. These instructions are not intended as a substitute for adequate

serious or fatal injury. IMPORTANT : Cable and associated apparatus must be de-energised, locked
out, and tagged prior to product installation.

1 Remove the cable outer sheath for a distance X mm which leaves sufficient length on each individual core to be
connected to the equipment.
2 Fix the copper wire screens in place at the core ends with a wrap of adhesive tape.

3 Roughen the surface of the outer sheath with sand paper and apply one layer of water sealing mastic on the
outer sheath at 40 mm from the crotch.
4 Position the break-out as far as possible down on to the cable crotch and shrink down.
5 Fit the heat-shrinkable tubes on the individual cores, and pre-form the cable cores into the final position, then
shrink the tubes down.
6 Clamp the cable.
7 Connect earth braids to the system earth.

Substitute heat-shrink tubing for outer sheath when installing the accessories, being connectors or
terminations, on this breakout. The metallic screens of the individual phases need to be connected to

earth when installing the accessories.
