To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Allyson Overly and I am pleased to be entering the field of Professional School Counseling. I have
obtained a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood and Special Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
Continuing, I completed my Masters Degree in Professional School Counseling, from a CACREP accredited program,
The University of North Carolina at Pembroke in December 2019. I have four years of experience working as a
general education teacher at Rockfish Hoke Elementary School in Raeford, North Carolina, serving on many
committees and coaching extracurricular activities. I am dedicated to supporting student’s academi c, social, and
emotional learning. I fully intend to provide guidance and assistance to any child in my care. Given the opportunity, I
will provide exemplary guidance and ensure that I am servicing my students with my best professionalism.

In my four years as a classroom educator, I have provided differentiated instruction to my students. I have served on
the School Improvement Team (SIT), the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) team, and also served in the
leadership role as our grade level chair. I have a range of experience with K-5 students and also middle level of sixth
through eighth grade. I believe my experience in the classroom has better prepared me for the demands of a
professional school counselor. In my counseling internship, I have completed a number of professional developments
including CPI Nonviolent Crisis Restraint Intervention training. Furthermore, I have provided individual and group
counseling sessions to student’s ages 5-12 years regarding career development, academic achievement, s ocial
behavior, and mental and physical health. Continuing, I completed a shadowing experience at Hoke County High
School in Raeford, North Carolina during a Crisis Intervention. I continue to research and advocate for my students as
I had the opportunity to present my literature review research poster findings of Cognitive Behavior Interventions for
Trauma in Students (CBITS) at the NC Graduate Education Day at the capital building in May 2019 in Raleigh, North
Carolina.

I pride myself in my ability to strengthen relationships, rapport, and have positive connections with my students and
families. Not only have I gained experience in the school system, I have also served as a Girls Soccer Coach at West
Hoke Middle School in Raeford, NC. I have experience coaching both High School and Middle School students. I feel
providing guidance and support to students and mentoring physical and mental health outside of the classroom helps
me build relationships with my students in a different, but effective, way.

I would love the opportunity to continue to fulfill my passion and dedication to serving students as a continued
member of your staff, but rather in the role of a Professional School Counselor. I believe I would be a great asset to
your team with my hard work ethic and dedication to this field. Thank you for your time and consideration and I look
forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

Allyson Overly
