3
protective film is applied to avoid shattering
Cleaning accessibility: Check both window
4
interiors and exteriors

5 3 Check trip hazards

and slip positions

Important notes
1. DISABILITY ACCESS
a. Ramps: allow wheelchair entry and exit

c. Wide doorways: allow wheelchair access
2. EMERGENCY EXITS
a. Is there an adequate number of exits
b. Stairs: provide an exit when lifts can’t be used

d. Ground floor windows: provide an emergency exit when doors can’t be
accessed
e. Are all exits clearly visible and marked?
f. Are all exits provided with artificial illumination?
3. TRIP HAZARDS
a. Smooth transition between rooms
b. Stairs highlighted with safety treads with high luminous contrast ratings
4. POWER CABLES

Structural hazards
Conduct an engineering survey of the framing, floors, and walls of the structure and any
adjacent structures that might be affected; maintain written survey results

an assured equipment grounding program
Whether open space is available for occupants
to assemble during/immediately after
1
earthquake?

Are there provisions for physically challenged-

friendly access to the buildings and functional
2
areas?

Is there a provision for emergency exit in the

3
building plan?
Are there tiles fixed on the walls particularly
those surrounding exit staircases? If yes, then
4 are those adequately fitted with bolts (or
equivalent glue) for seismic safety?

6 expansion joints, uneven surface, slippery
surface
Check for cracks or visible deformation,
7 deflection in beams columns and other
structural members
