INTRODUCTION

This assignment deals with the deep analysis of the Moral education class in the
Nava Jeevan Public school in relation with the mission in todays world. Moral
education or science is very important for the children to teach them moral values and
ethics to propagate them in their personal and community life.

1. Moral Education in Nava Jeevan School

In the year of 2019, COTR college of ministries has given me an oppurtunity for
the theological students to teach moral education in their own school which is Nava
Jeevan Public school in Dorathota, Bheemunipatnam. I was assigned to the class of
VIII-A section to teach moral science or education. There we can see many teachers
in the assigned classes from 5th - 8th standards are teaching moral science along with
me. There are 25 students in that particular class who are very interested to listen
every lessons and teaching.

2. Objectives

The teacher is teaching for some purpose to bring the children in a good way. So,
what is the main purpose of my teaching about the values and ethics to the children.

2.1. Personal development

The personal development is the special purpose in which I wanted specially to

deal with the students. In this particular age, the children are facing many personal
issues or problems. Now-a-days, the children are so much worried about the studies,
family and lot of other issues. There is lot of pressure in the minds of students to study
and some of them also will have family issues. Therefore, as a teacher we need to
focus on those issues and get hold of every childrenTeaching also should focus on the
reality of the students circumstances.

2.2. Moral development

Children are loosing their moral values due to the development and globalization
of this world. They are addicted to the internet, social media and technology. Mobile
became their primary use and adaptation to be spoiled in their lives. Therefore, moral
education should also be based on the ethical ideology of the Children. Through our
teaching they need to change their behavior, attitude and ideology and should develop

1
their manners of holiness. Nobody should point our their character therefore moral
development is also known as character development in its sense. This involves
giving children moral guidance, rewarding them for doing right and punishing them
for doing wrong, as well as modelling good conduct and modelling appropriate
reactions to the conduct of others.

2.3. Social development

Social development refers to the process by which a child learns to interact with
others around them. Social development most often refers to how a child develops
friendships and other relationships, as well as how a child handles conflict with others
in the societ. Social development can actually impact many of the other forms of
development a child experiences. A child’s ability to interact in a healthy way with
the people around her can impact everything from learning new words as a toddler, to
being able to resist peer pressure as a high school student, to successfully navigating
the challenges of adulthood. Healthy social development can help your child:

Build self esteem: Other children provide a child with some of her most exciting and
fun experiences. When a young child is unable to make friends it can be frustrating or
even painful. A healthy circle of friends reinforces a child’s comfort level with her
own individuality.

Strengthen learning skills: In addition to the impact social development can have on
general communication skills, many researchers believe that having healthy
relationships with peers (from preschool on up) allows for adjustment to different
school settings and challenges. Studies show that children who have a hard time
getting along with classmates as early as preschool are more likely to experience later
academic difficulties.

Resolve conflicts. Stronger self esteem and better language skills can ultimately lead
to a better ability to resolve differences with peers.

Establish positive attitude: A positive attitude ultimately leads to better relationships

with others and higher levels of self confidence.

3. Teaching

Teaching in the moral education helps a child to increase in their emotional

intelligence which will help him to tackle with hurdles of life in a better way. A

2
society that is threatened by violence, terrorism, child abuse, molestation and
murders, moral education will help a child to walk through it all with his virtues
and values as a whole without any damage to their life.

3.1. Curriculum oriented

It means that we concentrate on teaching strategies on the basis of some teaching

plan of chapter by chapter in the book and instructional designs at the classroom level
and on the learning activities of students.

3.2. Instruction oriented

We can understand this one as problem based suggestions to the students. Sometimes,
they feel to share some problems with the teachers, then as a guide, instructions and
suggestions plays a major role in what to do and what not do in their lifes. Sometimes
it can be a major decision in their life.

3.3. Intervention oriented

Teacher need to intervene with the students then only the children will mingle
with the teachers. They wont be bothering to share anything for us. We need to make
them feel free to talk with us and get used of us.

3.4. Learning oriented

Everything we are teaching is for the children to learn. Learning is an essential

thing in the part of students life. Learning is equal to the obedience in the class. The
teaching should enhance the children to engulf in their part of life in obedience to the
teachers, parents and the authority.

4. Strategies used in the Moral education

4.1. class debates

Class debates creates some excitement to the students. Teacher conducts between
the class students to have some interaction and active participation of the students. I
conducted class debates on gender equality (role of women and men in the society),
and environment protection (role of man or industries). It helped a lot to the students
to have a general knowledge.

4.2. Dramas

3
Teachers can also arrange some skits on the moral issues like women
discrimination, dis-advantages of using mobile, internet and the technology and
envioronmental degradation. These are some of the strategies of the teachers for the
active participation of the students because more than sitting and listening they are
interested in these skits.

4.3. Conducting quiz and games

It is a fun time for the students not to be bored of the lessons but also it is a kind
of refreshment to listen to the class again. Before going to teach the class, the teacher
should make everyone to listen to them, but till then they will stressed with lot of
otheer subjects but not games and guiz one of the important methods that the students
can be refreshed.

5. Reflection on the moral education class

5.1. Positives

 Through moral education class, the teachers can be specified in their teaching
ability, communication skills, and interaction abilities. It helped me in all these
three areas. Especially, in the mission field communication skills and interaction
abilities are very important to get connected with the people.

 As I am going to 8th A section, the students are very capable to listen to the class
and I can say they are good listeners. Because of them, my class is very
interesting and everyone will be interested to do anything which tell them to do
(work, preparing for quiz, or debate).

5.2. Negatives

 As they are students, sometimes they will be noisy, not coming for the class in
proper time and fighting with one another in the midst of the class.

 Some students will be cracking jokes on someone and some may be insulting
them infront of everyone.

 Most difficult task is everyone is different mentality of people. So, deal with them
is a hard and tough task for the teacher.

CONCLUSION

4
After having an analogy on moral education class, teachers as well as students
can learn several things as I mentioned above in this paper. There are some positves
but everyone need to evaluate on the basis of their negatives. So, through the writer’s
analysis, the readers will have a detailed understanding what it means to teach in the
moral education and what is their purpose and objectives to teach.
