SIGNIFICANT PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• Coded, tested and promoted COBOL enhancements to an accounts receivable
system decreasing CPU time and an automatic replenishment system saving $1.5
million dollars in inventory cost.
• Converted corporate billing system files of acquired companies into the new
corporate system with savings of over 20 percent of cost ($2 million) and time
completion estimates (one month before deadline).
• Designed and implemented enhancements to corporate merchandise planning
system for retail buyers: by refining criteria as to add to greater efficiency for
buyers to meet their goals.

• Directed mainframe applications incidents reported to help desk to be

channeled to the proper resources to expedite corrections for abends in CICS
and for access issues in z/OS environment and Linux OS web service.

• Using AGILE methodology, coded, tested, and delivered modifications to

COBOL programs with SQL/DB2 in batch z/OS environment and Linux OS web
service for integration into the billing and finance system for transactions which
factored coverage level more strongly for carriers HCSC and Wellmark customers.
Code controlled by Changeman.
• Processed federal level Policy Based Payments made to HCSC and Wellmark
 customers adjusting feeds using Eztrieve to properly apply charges and payments to
health care customer accounts.

BBVA Compass Bank (Crossvale, Inc. client), Birmingham, AL July 2015 - February
2016 Senior Mainframe Developer – 0 years, 6 months

• Using AGILE methodology, coded, tested, and delivered new COBOL

programs with SQL/DB2 and CICS in z/OS environment and Linux OS web
service for integration into the NetCash application’s onboarding system transactions
for user administrators to process new accounts and customers. Code controlled by
Changeman. CICS queues used MQ series.
• Production support resource for Compass Bank’s newly deployed SBA (Small
Business Administration) application for online and batch COBOL programs.
• Business Analyst for Compass Bank’s new Thunderbird project for mobile
applications as liaison for the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) team using Service
Oriented Architecture programming (SOAP) for providing bank service support.

• Coded and tested CICS / COBOL and Oracle modifications Using APS (to

Utility Power Network user application for customer billing for the MultiService

• Directed, organized and adapted the SEDC MultiService master customer billing
program to match changes made to the corporate billing program.
• Researched other software tools to improve on the efficiency of the UltraEdit

• Provided day-to-day IBM mainframe production support in a TSO z/OS
environment on Stratus platform for domestic U.S. and International credit, debit,
and gift card COBOL applications which process millions of sales transactions daily.
Code controlled by ENDEVOR. MQ series for CICS.
• Managed life cycle implementation of new and modified CICS / COBOL
modules from the test environment to production.
• Implemented quality assurance plans to ensure that production applications weren’t
compromised; this included code inspection for malicious content.
• Monitored the Stratus mainframe systems for performance-related issues.

• Provided applications support for the Sustainment Mainframe Group of the Stock
Control System (parts-tracking inventory) for the U.S. Air Force base in Fairborn.
• Conducted reviews for software design, coding (COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS) and
testing for TSO users of the Stock Control System.
• COBOL, DB2 and CICS coding for maintenance and development followed by
subsequent testing within SCS per user specifications. Used REXX and

 • Coded (COBOL, DB2), unit-tested, system-tested, and documented various
system files of acquired communications companies into their corporate
billing system.
• DB2 coding in unit-test and system-test environments accessing through TSO
to update current DB2 system to convert and integrate new data of differing
formats and updated batch and CICS programs accordingly.
• This conversion project was completed significantly below estimated cost and
time estimates by 20-30 percent.

• Maintained and enhanced commercial and auto insurance COBOL/ DB2

applications systems in CICS and batch environments using CHANGEMAN
and Control-M in a TSO environment. Used REXX and CLISTS.
• DB2 coding of various SELECT, UPDATE, and INSERT commands into various
existing DB2 insurance (e.g., auto, life, fire) tables
• Streamlined existing JCL procedures to produce more effectively (reducing
CPU time).
• Coded and tested required COBOL modifications in the ongoing Y2K
compliance project in anticipation of the year 2000.

• DB2 coding with SELECT, UPDATE, INSERT, and DELETE commands. Each
conversation of the next bullet point involved separate DB2 tables in the
application plus SELECT information from other DB2 tables in the
Merchandise Information application.
• Added cloning and store balancing conversations; enhanced attribute and
profile conversations to save corporate expenses.
• Maintained and installed vendor package releases (already Y2K compliant) for the
Merchandise Planning (“MP”) System.
• Contributed to IT Department’s Programming Standards Committee in
recognition of excellent coding quality for DB2, COBOL and CICS coding.
