Reflect on and summarise your progress against the professional learning goals you
identified against the Graduate Standards (Professional Knowledge, Professional
Practice and Professional Engagement) in Activity 1 of the Teaching Performance
Assessment (TPA) and identify your goals for the remainder of your placement.
Discuss this with your mentor teacher and University Liaison
Professional knowledge:
I believe I have made a good effort to get to know most of my students’ names, interests
and learning preferences. Some of the students preferred ways of learning have been
surprising, and I have tried to mould my lessons to suit as many students as possible, but
this is something I’d like to improve on. I have begun to realise that strategies that might
help some students learn might not necessarily work with other students. I am still trying to
improve on this, and am constantly on the lookout for strategies to help particular students
learn, especially those with diverse needs. I believe my lessons have been inclusive, though
I would like to work on more differentiation in both math and PE lessons.
Professional practice:
I believe my planning has been effective so far, and has allowed me to be organised yet still
flexible. I have tried using a range of different teaching resources and strategies. Managing
challenging behaviours is probably the main area I would like to improve on. I have
improved my use of formative assessments of students in maths and PE, and have found
analysing the data afterwards to be beneficial. I would like to further improve my ability to
use this data to inform my future lessons. I would like to work on my ability to
compare/judge/assess different student’s performance against a rubric to assign a grade.
Professional engagement:
I have attended meetings and professional development days, which have shown me a side
of teaching I’d not seen much of before. I have been engaging with the staff and community
but would like to engage with parents/caregivers more.
