Existen 4 tipos de condicionales, vamos a ver cu�ndo se utilizan y c�mo se forma

cada uno. Oppps bad news! En realidad hay uno m�s que es una combinaci�n de ellos,
m�s abajo te lo explicamos, se trata del mixed conditional.

Zero conditional
?? Se usa para:

� Hablar de verdades universales.

� Dar instrucciones u �rdenes.

?? Estructura

?? Ejemplos:
If you don�t wash your socks, they smell bad.
If you don�t put suncream, you burn yourself.
If I sleep for 8 hours, I feel fresh.
Tambi�n se puede empezar la frase con �when� en el zero conditional: When I sleep
for 8 hours, I feel fresh.

Y dar la vuelta a las oraciones, con este y con todos, pero en este caso sin coma:
I feel fresh when I sleep for 8 hours.

Para dar instrucciones u �rdenes:

If you come late, don�t make noise.

If she calls again, tell her I am busy.
First conditional
?? Se usa para hablar de: � Situaciones probables, reales en el futuro. ??
Estructura

?? Ejemplos:
If you don�t clean the house, you�ll (will) sleep on the sofa.
If I sleep on the sofa, I won�t (will not) sleep well.
Recuerda usar las contracciones: I�ll, you�ll, he�ll, she�ll, it�ll, we�ll, you�ll
they�ll. As� sonar�s mucho m�s como un nativo.

Second conditional
?? Se usa para:
� Hablar del futuro, pero en este caso la condici�n es hipot�tica, es muy poco
probable que ocurra.

� Expresar imposibilidad (para hablar de situaciones en el presente que no se

pueden dar porque son imposibles).

� Para dar consejos.

?? Estructura:

Warning?? Si el verbo �to be� est� en la oraci�n condicional, usamos �were� y no

�was� para todas las personas del singular y del plural.
En este caso no se trata del pasado simple, sino del subjuntivo. En espa�ol tampoco
dir�as: �si yo era rico�, dir�as: �si yo fuera rico�.

?? Ejemplos:

If I won the lottery, I would move to Japan.

If he were his father, I wouldn�t allow such behaviour.
If I were a man, I would wear colourful ties.
Third conditional
?? Se usa para hablar de:
� Una situaci�n imaginaria en el pasado.

� Arrepentimiento.

?? Estructura

?? Ejemplos:

If you hadn�t been looking at your phone, you wouldn�t have burnt my toast.
If I hadn�t left you in charge of breakfast, you wouldn�t have burnt my toast.
Mixed conditionals
Como su propio nombre indica, se trata de una mezcla de condicionales. Hay varias
estructuras que vas a encontrar:

If you had remembered to feed your cat, he wouldn�t be so hungry now.

If I hadn�t taken so much weight, I wouldn�t have a back ache now.

If she hadn�t invited me to that meeting , I would probably be still unemployed.

Tambi�n es posible usar �nicamente el tercer condicional para expresar la misma

idea.

If you had remembered to feed your cat, he wouldn�t have been so hungry.
