Level Abbreviation Permission Description


1 N None No access is permitted (It will look like the file does not exist - can't query it or see that it exists in the folder)
2 B Browse The user can look at attribute values but not at associated content
3 R Read The user can read content but not update
4 RL Relate The user can attach an annotation to the object and create links to other files
5 V Version The user can version the object (Must checkout first, change and republish)
5.1 VP Version Properties The user can version the properties only. User cannot view the content. (Must checkout first, change and republish)
5.2 WP Write Properties The user can create the object "shell" and write to the properties only. User cannot view the content.
Write Properties, but
5.1 W(+P,-C) not Content Write permission in properties (W+P), but content should be restricted to them to edit(W-C).
6 W Write The user can write and update the object, including metatags

The user can delete the object.


If the user is in a Content Manager group, the Delete option will display in any stage by default if the user is the owner of the object
and has at least Write permission. If the user is in an Administrator role, the Delete option will display for any object where the user
has at least Write permission. However, if either user attempts to delete the object in Active or Staging, WP will display a warning
message: “Warning: Delete files cannot be retrieved. Do NOT Delete files"; WP will not allow the user to delete an object in Active
7 D Delete or Staging.
Extended CS Change State The user can change the document lifecycle state (including power promote) of the object
Extended CP Change Permission The user can change the basic permissions of the object
Extended CO Change Ownership The user can change the owner of the object

The user can run the external procedure associated with the object.
Extended EP Execute Procedure All users having at least Browse permission on an object are granted Execute Procedure permission by default for that object.

The user can change move an object from one folder to another.
Extended CL Change Location All users having at least Browse permission on an object are granted Change Location permission by default for that object.

a. Upon Creation of the Article, Program, Collection objects, Editorial and Content Indexing groups should not have Change State
(CS) permit.
b. Upon Promotion of the Article, Program, Collection objects, Editorial and Content Indexing groups should be granted CS
permission for all lifecycle states.
i. This should occur upon promotion from Staging to Active or upon Power Promotion from WIP to Active.
ii. If the promotion fails, the CS permit should not be granted.
iii. If a new version of the object is created in WIP, the Editorial and Content Indexing groups should still have CS permission, since
Change State upon the object has previously been promoted to Active.
