Part II: Reflection

CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?

For this field experience, I created an overview of the available data for Mountain View High
School. I did this by gathering the available data both from the Governor’s Office of Student
Achievement and from my local “data person.” One of the most important things that I learned is
that we, in general, at my school do not effectively use data that is available to us. I was unable to
find someone who uses data in a way that can create meaningful improvements. However, I was
able to guide some of my peers on where they can access this data so hopefully there will be an
increase in data uses. In doing this I learned that sometimes you just have to show people how to
find things that they could use and they’ll be more inclined because they don’t have to “hunt it
down”

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
I had to know how to locate local and district data in order to complete this assignment. I also had to know
and have the skills to look at a set of data and make specific observations and inferences in order to provide
a quality data overview for my school and district. I also had to have enough skill in presentation design to
be able to design a presentation that would effectively present the data. Finally, the dispositions that I had
to have in order to complete this field experience were to be open to the idea of analyzing data for the
purpose of improving instruction

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?
This experience could impact school improvement and faculty development because it offers a
look into a standard assessment of what learning has taken place and where there is need for
improvement. The impact of this could be assessed through the increase in participation among the
data team or by further examining newly implemented instructional strategies for stands that
require remediation.
