NOTE: It may be the case that the depiction of pictograms in this
manual differs slightly from the depiction in your current software due to
an enhancement to Sidexis 4. Such differences are only of an optical
origin and have no influence over the functionality of the software.
With its modern and innovative design, Sidexis 4 provides you with the
best possible support for everyday work.
The functionality of Sidexis 4 is assigned to different work phases
[→ 19], which will typically pass through imaging systems while
preparing a report of dental findings. Sidexis 4 therefore helps you to
keep an overview.

be entered for each patient.

number, even though only the "Card ID" check box is ticked in the

IMPORTANT
For intraoral exposures:
For intraoral exposures, only one L/R marker is displayed if, at the
time the exposure is created, a tooth region has been selected
manually. The specific selected tooth region determines whether an R
or L is set. If a tooth region is selected incorrectly at the time of the
exposure, the wrong marker may be applied. Please therefore change
the L/R markers particularly carefully for IO exposures.

● "Grid on/off"
A grid is displayed in the preview window if the check box is
selected. The exposure windows can be positioned precisely using
the grid. The grid is not "magnetic" initially.
● "Crosshairs on/off"
If the check box is selected an orange colored crosshair (U) is
displayed in the preview window when an exposure window is
moved. The crosshair permits alignment of the exposure window
without a grid network or "magnetic" grid or precise positioning of the
windows on the grid displayed.
● "Snap to grid on/off"
If the check box is selected an invisible "magnetic" grid is activated
in the preview window. The magnetic grid makes it easier to position
the exposure window in the preview window.
The magnetic grid corresponds with the grid to be displayed via the

Using the sliders (E + F), you can adapt the material intensity and
opacity of every material individually to your requirements.
By changing the material intensity, you can shift the density ranges
assigned to the respective material. It is therefore possible, for example,
to define all bone parts in the volume to the bone area. The same can
be done with all other areas.
This is actually best visible using air as an example. The volume does
not only contain tissue, bone, etc. but also air, too. Were air to be set to
full opacity, then you would simply only ever see one block. For this
reason, the air area is fully transparent by default. With the air slider,
you can therefore set the point from which you can identify tissue in the
volume instead of air.
Opacity is the opposite of transparency. Full transparency would mean
an opacity of 0%. Full opacity means the respective density ranges are
completely covered, thus letting through no light at all. Material opacity
is one of the most important settings options, because you can use it to
configure how easily visible certain density ranges (materials) are,
