Chapter 1

Executive Summary

Mushter Burger is a start-up food business located in Barangay Poblacion Dos,.

The business plans to build a strong market position in the town. Their aim is to offer

their products at a competitive price to meet the demand of the low-to middle- income

local market area residents.

Mushter Burger is owned by Ms. Xxxx through the general and industrial

partnership. The founders have decided to share their resources as capital and share

their skills and knowledge to run their company efficiently.

Mushter Burger offers a fresh and high quality burger. They caters to all of its

customers by providing each customer a unique, fresh and high quality burger. Their

shop provides freshly prepared veggie patties at all times during business operations.

Twenty (20) to fifty (50) batches of patties are prepared during the day to assure fresh

patties are always available.

The food industry in the Philippines is growing at a phenomenal rate and

everyone wants a part of it. Mushter Burger wants to concentrate to its business

marketing on local residents, which will be the dominant target market. This will

establish a healthy, consistent revenue base to ensure stability of the business. High

visibility and competitive products and services are critical to capture this segment of

the market.
Chapter 2

INDUSTRY

2.1 History of the Business

Mushter Burger is a newly established business in, Laguna. It was owned

through the partnership xx. The owner went to the same school at STI College, Sta.

Cruz and was grouped to create a product for their expo in The Entrepreneurial Mind.

They began by researching about in demand cuisine here in the country and they

realize that when people think about burger, the patty is usually made of meat. So they

tried out various combinations of food products that does not contain any meat.

They came up with an idea to make burger patties with the use of mushroom and

with a series of experiments using different recipes; it took almost a month to get the

taste of the burger patties they wanted. They made two variants; a mixture of

mushroom, squash and carrot or which they called “M1” and a mixture of mushroom

and oatmeal or the “M2”.

Mushter Burger being new in the industry strives to provide the best burger in

town at affordable prices.

2.1.1 Form of Ownership

Mushter Burger is a general and industrial partnership, with five (5) partners. The

main founders decided to share their investments together as capital. In addition, they

will also share their skills and knowledge in order to operate their business effectively.
The main founders are held responsible for the liabilities of their business and the

agreements they signed in terms of profit sharing and management.

The Mushter Burger will compete in a medium scale industry in which its target

market is composed of teenagers, students and adult customers. The business focuses

on people who belong in the middle class family.

2.3.1 Current Size of the Industry

There are a lot of business industry in the Philippines and the major industries of

the Philippines include transport, computer, telecommunication, agriculture,

construction, education, pharmaceutical, food, entertainment, and manufacturing

industry such as clothes, etc.

2.4 Major Participants in the Business

Mushter Burger major competitors of the business are Angel’s Burger, The

Project Burger, and Minute Burger which are also located in Sta. Cruz, Laguna. When it

comes to competition, Angel’s Burger is considered as the major one because it already

has a name in the food industry and it is also the cheapest burger.

Since the Mushter Burger is located in Sta. Cruz, Laguna most of the customers

comes from the vicinity especially those students and employees. The Mushter Burger

will provide such product and also give an affordable price with a good quality service to

its customers.

Our aim for creating Mushter Burger venture is to build a business that can grow

within the first 3 years of establishing the business to be listed among the top 10 burger

maker in the Laguna. We are going to be one of the very few burger businesses in

Philippines with more than 15 branches. Other than that, we will ensure that we open

our outlets in various cities in Manila and also sell our franchise in different places. With

that, our brand will be well communicated and accepted nationally.

THE PRODUCT

3.1 Product Description

Our burger is made to give the local community a more delightful snack.

Mushter Burger give satisfy the consumers’ cravings for an enjoyable snack, the owners

of this business has thought of a way to utilize a Filipino snack in producing a different

product showcasing unusual vegetable combinations. Instead of making the traditional

burger that uses meat as a patty, the owners decided to use a vegetable in order to give

a twist to the usual burger that we know and also to satisfy those people who does not

eat meat or fatty foods.

3.2 Product Development

“The Burger Pad” is a food stall that created by five entrepreneurs. They think of

some unusual foods but, yet it will click for the customers. The main reason of creating

this kind of business is that they want to offer much affordable and unique snack

especially for those people near the vicinity. Hamburger is a kind of sandwich

consisting of grilled cutlets, served inside that cut round loaf. It is usually supplemented

with various seasonings, for example, lettuce, ketchup and mayonnaise, slices of

tomatoes , raw or fried onions. But instead of having meat as a patty in the middle of the

bread, the owner came up with a new idea of having a mixed vegetables as a patty to

give the local community a new twist in their snack.


 Quality

The company assures that all of the ingredients are delivered fresh to the stores.

Fresh vegetables and buns will give the product its best possible taste and texture. The

company checks if the vegetables that they got from their suppliers are in good

condition without any overripe vegetables. They also assure that they have proper

maintenance of their equipment and the cleanliness of their stores.

 Packaging

The owner prefer a combination of creativity and aesthetic simplicity that does

the job without unnecessary noise. The business uses a paper bag suited for taking-

away and for serving hot food. Plus, we also added a logo placed on the top of the

paper for them to recognize the product.

3.3 Competitive Product

Burger is a snack that has a combination of tastes and textures. Nowadays,

there are various creations of snacks that sold in the markets. Some of the snack

products fail because of lack of research; unlike the Mushter Burger, that conducted

several studies in order to know where is the right location and the right people for the

prouct to be acceptable. The product will be remarkable because the customer will be

curious about the taste of the patty. How the new combination of different ingridients

and seasonings will taste. This product is already acceptable in terms of price, taste and

texture based on the survey rating of the researchers' respondents. The benefits that
the customers can get because of the ingredients and attractive appearance are the

factors which will make this product very popular and reach high ratings. Mushter

Burger direct competitors will be Angel’s Burger, The Project Burger and Minute Burger

since they also offer burger and they are famous in the Sta.Cruz, Laguna.

3.4 Researchers and Development

The hamburger is commonly abbreviated burger but is named after the german

city of hamburg. Many cultures have dishes made from minced or chopped meat formed

into a patty and then fried, but the one that would evolve into the american style burger

is likely the german frikadellen. These came to America and were called hamburg

steaks. These were different from today’s hamburgers in that they often had adjuncts

added bread, tomato, lettuce etc. just like the mushter burger.

One of the firm’s goals is to guide the organizational development of the

business. The Burger Pad is putting importance to the process of improving the product

through feedback and research. All the products are going through the process of

periodical tasting for quality and maintenance that will be reported to the owners for the

further improvement.

Hamburger is usually served with french fries and drinks but for now the

company is thinking a new partner for the burger. Burgers are typically served in the

afternoon as a merienda but the Mushter burger can be serve any time of the day. The

ingredients are guaranteed to be high quality to confirm the large sales and to gain profit

for aquiring equipments needed for the stores.


A great burger goes with having the right tool at the store. Therefore, investing in

the right kitchen equipment is the most important thing that should be considere in the

business. Appliances and equipmnents like refrigerator, fryer or grills, packaging

equipment, and other kitchen tools will be normally installed in the stores. The

employees will be sure to serve the customers a delicious snack that can attract the

them to return in the store.

MARKET

4.1 Customers

A customer is the light to every business because business without customers is

nothing. Businesses honor the saying "customer is always right" because happy

customers means more profit as happy customers may recommend one's product to

their friends and relatives. Every business is known because of its consumers. The

customers are also the one improving the business as they make suggestions and

recommendations for the product/service they avail. Everything about customers is

really important even their complaints because it may lead to a new innovation and

ideas.

Mushter Burger is a business that targets a big customer segments. Customers

could be students, professionals, simple employees, and ordinary people around Sta.

Cruz, Laguna.

4.2 Barrier to Entry

Sta. Cruz, Laguna is a place where there are many establishments like schools,

fast food and other small businesses. Mushter Burger offers affordable product which

people might consider buying. However Mushter Burger house might still encounter

many competitors like the vendors on the side that offers the same product Burger but

Mush Burger is a fearless and opportunity taker business that sees every competitor as
the opportunity to be better and to rise up and gain profit by introducing the newly

innovated burger with vegetables patties and many add ons one can enjoy.

Market segment is the division of the market into much smaller groups with the

same characteristics.

4.4 Psychographic

 Personality

In segmenting the customers based on personality, factors such as their

traits, attitudes, and habits are considered. This will determine the group of
individuals who can be the current and future customers and do further studies

about them.

 Lifestyle

To know our customers more accurately we considered knowing how they

spent their time, what are their beliefs and their interest.

 Values and Attitudes

Knowing what the customers values the most, how they value our product

and how they’ll response to it will also help.

 Interest

It is also one thing to segment customers basing on their interest. In this

segment we considered the things they enjoy doing even though it only has a

small thing to do in our business.

4.5 Demographic

 Family

In Demographic segmentation we considered the status of customers in

terms of family. Being married, engaged and single is important to determine in

which group the customers fit in. Knowing how many member are there in their

family is also important because sometimes family is the one that motivates us to

purchase something.
 Age and Gender

The customer’s age and gender is also one factor as it affects how

customers values one product basing on their activities which is also based from

our gender and age. Mushter Burger will target male and female students and

employees around Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

 Income

Income is one of the important factors as it affects the purchasing power

of individuals. The higher the income of an individual the more they purchase

things like our product. We design our product as a unique yet very affordable for

those who have high, average and low income.

4.6 Geographic

In Santa Cruz Laguna, there are different barangays, with each having

different population. The main store of Mushter Burger is located at the center of

Santa Cruz considering the location is the most important things because

customers like to shop in an accessible stores and stalls, so that the location will

also help in the ease of the distribution of the product.

4.7 Competitive Factor

Competitive factors are factors that help a business in promoting their products to

their target market. According to Sarah Layton (2007), it is perceived as valuable by the

customer it is a value element used to attract buyers. It is an ingredient, a constituent,


an element or characteristic of the product or service that is highly sought by the

customer.

Every business has a competitor. As a business owner you should know what is

your advantage and difference from your competitors. You should be able to make your

own product a unique and innovated one which is ahead of them because

entrepreneurs should always think one step ahead of its competitors.

The competitive factors of Mushter Burger are the quality of the manufacturing,

price, brand name, and marketing. Mushter Burger will focus on these factors to attract

more customers.

We are also confident that we are not just a new business but a competitive one

by introducing a newly Burger with patties made of vegetables which is delicious at a

fair price everyone can afford and enjoy. We make sure that our product is clean by

showing our customers how it is cooked and made.

4.8 Competitors

The business competitors are the other businesses that offer the same goods or

services in the market. These businesses are in the same market industry as your

business, which usually sells the same product or services as your business but with

only different prices, design or features.

Competition is an inevitable part of the business world, for businesses of any

size. It is not a necessary evil, but rather an important part of the business ecosystem.

In fact, competition can be an effective tool for growing and improving your business.
Competitors provide assurance that your product is the best quality; it helps build loyalty

from customers; and help customers to quickly identify you.

In our case our competitors are Angel’s Burger, The Project Burger, Minute

Burger and the vendors around Sta. Cruz which offers the same or almost the same

product as our product and offers a reasonable price for its quality with a good

advertising strategy of encouraging customers to buy with discounts or package promo

as well as the famous buy one take one that always encourages customers.
