Procedures

Introductory Activity Recall the PHIVOLCS Earthquake Intensity Scale (PEIS)

Activity Read the topic Do You Live Near an Active Fault on LM page 131.

Is there an active fault passing by your town, province, or region? If so, are you and your family
Analysis
prepared for the occurrence of an earthquake?

There really is no way to concretely define a fault as "active" or "inactive" (especially because
Abstraction inactive faults can suddenly become active again), but it's more or less safe to say that if a fault
hasn't shown tectonic activity for about 5,600 years, it's probably inactive.
It is important to know the location of active faults. As much as possible, no important structures
Application should be built near or on them. PHIVOLCS has a MAP that shows the Active Faults in the
Philippines.

Assessment Based on the map presented, give at least five description of a fault
