COMBINED TEST PIECE(CTP)

CTP is a kit to check the performance of X-CIS/XBIS as per BCAS specifications.

Following CTP tests should be conducted by the operator /technician to ensure that machine
perform as per BCAS specifications. The test result should be maintained in a log sheet specially
designed for conducting performance test.

(TEST No. 1) Single Wire Resolution:

CONSIST OF : This test is mounted on plastic sheet and containing various types of gauge wires
starting from 26SWG to 42SWG. These wires are un-insulated tin coated copper wires in S Shapes.

REQUIREMENT: 40 SWG wire should be seen without covering any step wedge.

OBJECT: The object of this Test to detect the connectivity.

(TEST No. 2) Useful Penetration:

CONSIST OF: This Test contain three Aluminium step wedge of different dimensions such as 3/16”,
5/16” & 7/16”

REQUIREMENT: 30SWG should be seen underneath 5/16” Aluminium step wedge.

OBJECT: To detect hidden connectivity.

(Un-insulated Tin copper wire/Perspex sheet/ Aluminium step wedge)

(TEST No. 3) Material Discrimination (Multi Energy Test) :

CONSIST OF: In this Test SUGAR & SALT is used as they are having nearby atomic number and they
look alike.

REQUIREMENT: SUGAR will appear in ORANGE colour and SALT will appear in GREEN colour.

OBJECT: To distinguish between ORGANIC & IN-ORGANIC materials.

(TEST No. 4) Simple Penetration:

CONSIST OF: This Test is having steel step wedge of different dimensions starting from 16mm to
30mm. A lead strip is placed beneath the step wedge.

REQUIREMENT: Lead strip should be seen beneath the 30mm of steel step wedge.

OBJECT: To check the penetration level of X-Ray on steel step wedge (30mm)

(TEST No. 5) Spatial Resolution:

CONSIST OF: This Test is mounted on a copper square plate having sixteen gratings 08 Vertical& 08
Horizontal (1MM & 1.5MM GROVE)

REQUIREMENT: All sixteen grating should be seen clearly.

OBJECT: To distinguish between overlapping images and mix together images.

(TEST No. 6) Thin Metal Image:

CONSIST OF: In this Test steel strip are placed one over the other (overlapping). These strips are
0.05mm thick.

REQUIREMENT: 0.1mm steel strip should be seen clearly.

OBJECT: To check penetration level of X-Ray on thinnest part of object or material.

CTP is set of combination of six tests to check the performance of XCIS/XBIS as per the specification
of BCAS which is provided by the manufacture of X-Ray machine.
