Insurance join hands
Millions of couples in our country choose to
plan their families by opting for tubectomy,
vasectomy or other methods of contraception.
While the Govt. has taken special steps to
improve the quality of Family Planning
services, it has introduced insurance coverage
to all the acceptors.
All health facilities providing Family Planning
services will have to ensure:

Empanelled doctors, qualified and trained, are providing sterilization services
Ø
Doctors will screen the acceptor’s fitness through a checklist before the operation

Ø
The insurance scheme covers failure of sterilization ( Rs 25000 ) or treatment cost of complications within 2 months of sterilization
( up to Rs 25,000 ), and also compensation of Rs 2 lakh in the most unlikely event of loss of life during operation at hospital or within 7 days
from date of discharge from the hospital. Rs 50,000/- for loss of life within 8 to 30 days from the date of discharge from the hospital.

Insurance premium fully paid by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India.
Øindemnity cover for doctors providing Family Planning services

A monitoring system for quality care through Quality Assurance Committees at state and district levels
has also become operational
Benefit of the insurance cover also available at accredited private health facilities
