DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH (PG SECTION)

The English Department has been an integral part of Narasinha Dutt College since its foundation
in 1924. The Department has functioned effectively for all these years conducting UG Honours
and General courses. In 2013, the Department of English took a further stride in inaugurating a
regular Post Graduate course, affiliated to the University of Calcutta. The PG course has a
capacity of 30 seats. Over the last five years, the Department has been able to involve reputed
teachers from the University of Calcutta, Rabindra Bharati University, University of Burdwan
and Kalyani University, in taking regular classes for PG, as well as in conducting workshops,
students’ seminars and delivering special talks and seminar lectures. The PG English Department
also worked successfully towards its first publication venture, Gender in Literature, in 2015.The
PG Department of English offers a good number of facilities at its renovated 3rd floor space in
the West Block of the college.
