Chlorine - is commonly used as an antiseptic and is used to make drinking

water safe and to treat swimming pools. Large amounts of chlorine are used in
many industrial processes, such as in the production of paper products,
plastics, dyes, textiles, medicines, antiseptics, insecticides, solvents and paints.

Actinium- 225 is used in medicine to produce Bi-213 in a reusable

generator or can be used alone as an agent for radio-immunotherapy. It is
found only in traces in uranium ores as 227-Ac, an α and β emitter with a
half-life of 21.773 years.

Aluminium - is a silvery-white, lightweight metal. It is soft and

malleable. Aluminium is used in a huge variety of products including cans,
foils, kitchen utensils, window frames, beer kegs and aeroplane parts. This
is because of its particular properties.
Americium - most stable isotope, americium-243, has a half-life of about
7,370 years. It decays into neptunium-239 through alpha
decay. Americium can be produced in kilogram quantities and has a few
practical uses. It is used in smoke detectors and can be used as a portable
source of gamma rays.

Antimony - is alloyed with lead to increase lead's

durability. Antimony alloys are also used in batteries, low friction metals,
type metal and cable sheathing, among other
products. Antimony compounds are used to make flame-proofing materials,
paints, ceramic enamels, glass and pottery.

Argon - is often used when an inert atmosphere is needed. It is used in

this way for the production of titanium and other reactive elements. It is also
used by welders to protect the weld area and in incandescent light bulbs to
stop oxygen from corroding the filament.
Arsenic - is used as a doping agent in semiconductors (gallium arsenide)
for solid-state devices. It is also used in bronzing, pyrotechnics and for
hardening shot. Arsenic compounds can be used to make special glass
and preserve wood.

Lead - is still widely used for car batteries, pigments, ammunition, cable
sheathing, weights for lifting, weight belts for diving, lead crystal glass,
radiation protection and in some solders. It is often used to store corrosive
liquids.

Francium - has been used in the field of research, chemistry and also in the
atomic structure.
 It is used for diagnostics for curing cancers.
 It is also used in many spectroscopic experiments.
 Francium is a highly radioactive metal, and since it exhibits a short half-life,
it does not have more impact on the environment.
Oxygen - is used by animals and plants in the respiration (breathing)
process. Tanks of oxygen are used in medicine to treat people with
breathing problems. They are also used as life support for astronauts and
scuba divers. The majority of the oxygen used in industry is used in the
manufacturing of steel.
