Dear Hiring Professionals:

I found on the jobing.com website that you are hiring a temporary Special Education Teacher
for East Orient Elementary School. I would love to meet with you to discuss this position and my
qualifications. I am very patient, flexible, and understanding which are very important traits
when working with children with special needs. My daughter has Autism and ADHD so I am very
familiar with the Special Education system. This personal connection gives me a special
understanding of the parents and what they are going through, which gives me compassion
that I can bring to this position. I have also worked directly with other children with differing
disabilities and believe that I would be an excellent fit for this position.

My daughter was diagnosed with Autism when she was three, so I have been involved with her
Special Education program for the past four years. In those four year, I have worked closely
with her educators and different therapists to ensure that she gets the help she needs to
succeed not only in school, but in developing the proper life skills. I have learned patience
beyond my wildest expectations. I have also developed a personal commitment to inclusion in
all areas of life for people who struggle with their different abilities and it has made me a better
person. I have learned to be a great team player and have developed communication skills with
parents and other educators. My growing understanding of the world of Special Education has
given me a new purpose and drive in my life and made me want to help others succeed as well.

I studied and attained a Bachelors of Arts degree in Educational Studies at Arizona State
University. After graduation, I completed my Special Education Certification and began working
as an Instructional Assistant at Beavercreek Elementary School in Beavercreek, Oregon. I have
worked directly children with differing special needs and disabilities including Autism, ADHD,
learning disabilities, non-compliant behavior, and speech delays, as well as non-verbal students
using communication aids. I have also taken classes that specialize in working with children that
have communication delays. Those classes have helped me immensely with working with
students who are non-verbal or have delayed communication. Between the certification and
training I have had, and a close, personal experience with children with special needs, I believe I
would be a perfect fit for this position.

My experience and training with Special Education students would fit very well at East Orient
Elementary School. I look forward to meeting with you and interviewing for the Special
Education position at your school. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you
might have. You can email me directly at kdifran1@asu.edu. I have also included my resume for
you to look over with more detailed information about my qualifications. Thank you so much
for your time and I look forward to meeting with you.
Sincerely,

Kelly DiFranco
