Inventory management is a significant component of supply chain management. Supply chain

costs need to be minimized by handling inventory levels in numerous production and
distribution operations related with diverse chain stages and the members of a supply chain are
responsible for the same. They proposed a innovative and efficient methodology that works
with the aid of Genetic Algorithms in order to facilitate the precise determination of the most
probable excess stock level and shortage level required for inventory optimization in the supply
chain such that minimal total supply chain cost is ensured.

The main contribution of this paper is that it proposes a unified time-series framework for
forecasting and inventory control in supply chains that are rich with demand information. We
contend that such a framework is timely and important for several reasons. First, it provides
forecasting and replenishment procedures that can cope with a high variety of product demand
characteristics, and with demand models that may need to be revised and modified
over time.

In this study sort to answer the questions what is the extent of inventory management
techniques application, how to determine the impact and challenges of inventory management
techniques on supply chain performance and how to determine the challenges of inventory
management techniques in NGOs in the agricultural sector. This was achieved through
relationship establishments between the inventory management techniques and supply chain
performance. It was established that most NGOs have operated for more than ten years
meaning they have been growing and embracing inventory management techniques
implementation. Thus, the study recommends that the NGOs in the agricultural sector should
embrace inventory management techniques so that they can reap from the immense benefits
accrued from implementation.

It is clear in this study that the use of simulation was able to provide better insights into
resolving the conflict between inventory and service level. It led to reducing the inventory
holding cost and making the managerial decision making process more efficient and effective. It
aided in streamlining the transactions with the suppliers and customers and ultimately cut
down the non-value adding inventory from the supply chain. Inventory is a problem that spans
two functional areas: operations and marketing. Operation’s goal is to minimize cost and
maximize profit but marketing’s goal is to enhance customer service
