TDT 1 Task 3: Multimedia

For this task, I decided I wanted to share the importance of

reading aloud to children so I had my husband videotape me reading
the book, What Do You Do With a Problem? By Kobi Yamada.

In order to get ready for the recording, I did some research on

the benefits of reading aloud to children. After reading about these
benefits, I compiled some of that information to share with my
audience (parents and students that I serve at Bridgeport Middle
School) before reading the book aloud. The reason I chose What Do
You Do With A Problem? By Kobi Yamada is that many students face
difficult and not so difficult problems every day, and I wanted them to
know that problems provide us opportunities to grow. I also think it’s a
good reminder that picture books are written for all ages.

While doing that I research, I also compiled a list of

recommended books for middle schoolers to include on my website. I
created that list in sodadb.com so I could keep a database of books I
think my students will enjoy reading.

I decided to have my husband record my presentation using our

Microsoft Surface computer. I decided to use this because the only
other option we own is an iphone 6, and we thought the quality would be
better on the computer and it would be already saved to the device we
would upload it from.
 I clicked on the Microsoft icon in the bottom left hand corner of
the screen and then on the photo icon. Once there, I opened the video
recorder. I chose to sit in a chair in our basement where there
wouldn’t be any interruptions. My husband propped the computer up on
a table and zoomed it in just enough so my audience would be able to
see the book as I read. I then shared a few benefits of reading and
began reading the book. I modeled reading clearly with expression.
After reading the story, I let my parents and students know that I
have put a list of recommended books on my website for them to
peruse.
