Suspended in Space
By Vandana Sharma
There were three dandelion flowers tucked far away in the corner of a cornfield. The farmer loved
the corns but never ever cared or even looked at the dandelions and considered them as weeds. This
made dandelions very sad. But they still had hope and thought that one day someone would definitely
care for them.
It was a bright sunshine morning and dandelions were in full bloom, they looked like three little
suns in the vast green. As the wind swayed the dandelions too swayed along. Their happiness was
unsurpassable. Days just went by and the ripples of time showed on dandelions too.
Their yellow faces were slowly withering and turning white and frail. They had started to look like
the moon. The moon in the dark sky looked from above and wondered what those tiny things that looked
like him were? He sent an angel at night to ask. On seeing the angel dandelions were very excited. They
told their story to the angel, also told him that soon their seed heads would fly away to distant shores, but
till now they did not find anyone who cared about them except for the moon, who was curious.
The angel went back to the moon and told him everything. Moon had sympathy for the dandelions.
He asked the angel that when seed heads would blow, he should gather them and spread them in the
space.
The winds were changing and so were the dandelions. All three bid goodbye to and as the wind
blew their seed heads blew with them. The angel caught all the seed heads and sprinkled them in the
space. The seed heads sparkled with joy and became shiny dots in the dark sky.

Is Google Making Us Stupid?

Who doesn't love Google? In the blink of an eye, the search engine delivers useful information
about pretty much any subject imaginable. I use it all the time, and I'm guessing you do too.
But I worry about what Google is doing to our brains. What really makes us intelligent isn't our
ability to find lots of information quickly. It's our ability to think deeply about that information. And deep
thinking, brain scientists have discovered, happens only when our minds are calm and attentive. The
greater our concentration, the richer our thoughts.
If we're distracted, we understand less, remember less, and learn less. That's the problem with
Google—and with the Internet in general. When we use our computers and our cellphones all the time,
we're always distracted.
The internetfloods us with messages and other bits of data, and every one of those interruptions
breaks our train of thought. We end up scatterbrained. The fact is, you'll never think deeply if you're always
Googling, texting, and surfing.
Google doesn't want us to slow down. The faster we zip across the Web, clicking links and
skimming words and pictures, the more ads Google is able to show us and the more money it makes. So
even as Google is giving us all that useful information, it's also encouraging us to think superficially. It's
making us shallow.
If we are interested in developing our mind, weneed to turn off our computer and our cellphone—
and start thinking. Really thinking. We can Google all the facts we want, but we'll never Google our way to
brilliance.

Integrated Pest Management
There is no best way to deal with pests in agriculture. Pesticides which are commonly used may cause
many problems. I think combining different management operations is the most effective way to control
pests.
Firstly, the chemicals in the pesticides may build up as residues in the environment and in the soil
which absorbs the chemicals. This reduces the quality of farm product.
Secondly, pests can gradually become resistant to pesticides. This means that newer and stronger
ones have to be developed.
Lastly, some pesticides affect non target plants and animals such as fish and bees. This affects the
ecology and environment as well.
So, understanding of ecology of an area helps a lot in pest control. Pesticides should be chosen and
applied carefully so that they don't affect the ecological balance and environment.
Therefore, integrated pest management is a safe and more effective option to fight pest in agriculture
and livestock.
43. What is the purpose of the text?
A. To describe the damages of using pesticides.

“I LEFT MY 20-YEAR CORPORATE CAREER TO TRAVEL THE WORLD”
- Leigh Wilson, 42, Chicago, IL –
I've been employed, in some fashion, ever since I was 15 years old, only taking a week between
changing jobs across the country. Throughout my professional career, I would plan out my paid vacation
time years in advance, maximizing my time away as much as possible.
After a whirlwind trip to Southeast Asia in 2016, I decided I wanted to travel deeper, beyond the
usual one or two-week bursts where work is piling up behind me. When I started travel blogging and
engaging with the digital nomad community, I realized there are lots of people doing exactly this, but I
don't know anyone in my 'real life' who's ever strayed from the traditional career path.
Despite the fear, I decided to pull the plug on corporate life. I started a website called Campfires &
Concierges and, along with my dog, I've embarked on a six-month, 10,000-mile road trip through the
American Southwest and Baja Mexico.
To prepare, I cut back on expenses and sold a lot of my belongings. I sold my home and downsized
to 800 square feet a few years ago, which makes moving into my vehicle and a storage unit a little bit
easier.
