Re: Reflection Paper
One thing that surprised me in India was the question of what they believed as Hindus
and what influence it has had on their lives. Since Father Mon-Mon discussed the religion of
India I began to think of it as a substance to compare with mine, Catholicism. Hinduism had
existed in the world for a very long time now. This religion has many followers depending on the
area of presence. It was also a spread throughout India and more than 95% of the world’s Hindus
live in India. Unlike the Western religions such as Christianity, Judaism and Islam, Hinduism is a
Polytheistic religion. Hindus believe and worship multiple gods and goddesses, rather than one
specific God. To show their reverence and give their prayers to their gods and goddesses, the
that is commonly known due to their way of life that helps people to grow.
It was based on the lecture that their religion is a well example for their culture, faith and
understanding about life. Sometimes, it looks the same with the perks of a devoted catholic. It
helps me to discover for myself that not all other religion gives judgment to another religion. It
gives me understanding that giving them their privacy would be a great respect so if it is my time
as a catholic to claim this privacy they would give this time for me without any other questions.
We have different beliefs and faith but only one end and it is to be the best version of ourselves.
Hinduism as an eastern religion and Christian Catholicism as a western religion have
distinctive features that make them stands out from each other. The two religions have some
similarities that link them together as well as differences that clearly separate them. Even though
they have differences and similarities, Hinduism exists in the west just like Catholicism exists in
the east. It is only that they are minimally established in those areas. The two religions have
existed in the world for over two thousand years and will still be there in the coming years.
Lastly, the respect for them should be established by heart not by law because those religions are
also composed of human beings like me that mean in order for me to gain respect I must be the
one to do it.
