When you hear the word technology you think about effective ways of doing things at a

lower cost. Technology is an indication of the human imagination to improve the living

condition. It can be defined as skills, techniques, processes, and methods applied to produce

goods and services or to reach a certain objective. Technology helps people to use the machine

without much knowledge about their operation (Song and Wang, 2018). A technology system

takes input changes it and produces an output. Technology can be traced to the prehistoric stage

from the use of basic tools, the discovery of fire and the invention of the wheel (Song and Wang,

2018). Technological development in historical times includes the development of the printing

press, telephone, and internet. Those technologies have reduces physical barriers and made it

easier for the human to communicate easily.

Technology has had a huge effect on the economy and has enabled the rise of the leisure

class (Song and Wang, 2018). On the negative side, technology has led to the production of

unwanted byproducts that cause pollution and depletion of natural resources (Song and Wang,

2018). It has also influenced the values of the society and issue about ethics f technology like the

issue of efficiency in the production of humans. Reduction in barriers to communicating has also

led to issues regarding the spreads of vices in the society. The current paper will seek to evaluate

the advantages and disadvantages of technology.

Advantages of Technology

In the present world, it is not possible for an individual to live without technologies like mobile

phones, television, computer and others (Yu and Zhang, 2017). Those technologies have slowly

changed into crucial components of our lives and without them, life will be very bad.
Technologically is beneficial to the life of humans due to various reason. In medicine,

technology has led to the discovery of effective and better methods of treatment. Those methods

have impacted the field of medicine positively and have led to better methods of treatment. It has

also led to the discovery of machines that are effective in treatment. Illness like career is been

treated by the use of technological advancement (Yu and Zhang, 2017). Due to technology, the

number of people served by a single healthcare provider has increased. It is because technologies

help them to multiple tasks and deliver services at a faster rate than usual.

The greatest advantage that has been realized from technology is the advancement in

communication. The discovery of the computer was the greatest factor that led to a turnaround in

communication (Yu and Zhang, 2017). The computer has made it easy to communicate locally

and even internationally. With a simple click of a button, people in different locations can

communicate easily and effectively. The reduction in barriers to communication means fast

service delivery by business that leads to higher profit (Yu and Zhang, 2017). The developments

in communication have also led to the development of new methods of doing reducing the level

of unemployment.

The use of strategic technology trends in enterprises is helping firms to save time and money.

With the internet companies are able to exchange faster. The firms are able to purchase and sale

easily in the world enabling them to purchase their raw materials at a discounted rate. In

addition, the development of technology has led to a growth in global tourism. Technology has

also led to a rise in the output of almost every sector around the globe. People are now able to

use other forms of currency like bitcoin rather than by the use of banks (Yu and Zhang, 2017).

The digital coin has been a huge change in the operation of enterprises around the globe.
With close observation, new discoveries are done on a daily basis. For instance, the discovery of

radiofrequency was followed by the discovery of radio broadcasting. A similar case applied to

television and electricity. If there was no person who discovery electricity then the entertainment

sector will not be at its present level (Yu and Zhang, 2017). Technology has made life easier by

enabling people to move from physical storage into virtual storage. It is also possible for a

scientist to send astronauts to the moon. Further in the present world machines do most of the

industrial and agricultural work, as a result, the output of workers is higher (Song and Wang,

2018). The workers have more time to exercise and work in a safe surrounding.

Disadvantages of Technology

The modern technology has had some disadvantages, for instance, there is a high dependency on

technology by humans. People no longer think or make mental computations. In most cases,

people will use a calculator to do a simple calculation (Belcher, 2015). Technology has also led

to unemployment as human capital is no longer required to do some tasks. In some cases, those

devices replace the human mind. It is also not regulated by the present laws, for example, the use

of intent is an individual right but the use of an atomic bomb is not an individual right. New laws

are required to regulate some practices that may lead to negative effects on society (Belcher,

2015). It is also not possible to enforce regulation when those technologies are introduced, for

instance, regulation on the use of automatic cars.

Since technology is doing more of the work that was done by humans it means that humans are

becoming more obsolete. It has led to making job redundant that increases unemployment and

reduces the welfare of the people (Belcher, 2015). Technology has also affected children's

negativity particular by the spread of vices. Children are able to access bad content on the
internet that negatively affects their morals and behavior (Belcher, 2015). The use of technology

also leads to a rise in the dependency by the children that reduces their thinking capacity.
