Dear Secretary Benson:
As the chief elections officer for the State of Michigan and under the duties vested in you by
Public Act of 116 of 1954, Sec. 168.31, specifically:
(b) Advise and direct local election officials as to the proper methods of conducting
elections.
And
(h) Investigate, or cause to be investigated by local authorities, the
administration of election laws, and report violations of the election laws and
regulations to the attorney general or prosecuting attorney, or both, for
prosecution.
| am writing to formally request that your office oversee the November Sth, 2019 general
election in the City of Flint. Failing to do so may violate the rights of Flint citizens without their
ability for recourse.
There have been numerous irregularities and potential violations of Michigan election law
reported by numerous news outlets specifically around absentee ballots being in the possession

action by your office the validity of the upcoming election in Flint is in jeopardy by
all reasonable accounts.
Voting is one of the most precious of rights provided to citizens by the U.S. and
Michigan State Constitution. That right includes the running of fair and accurate
elections. The citizens of Flint have been victims of severe failures in state
government in recent years. The least that the state can do now is to ensure that
their right to vote isn’t wiped away by voting irregularities and potential violations
of Michigan election law.
Unfortunately, those arms of justice that support and provide protections for the
community are equally engaged in the political process by officially lending their
support to the current Mayor i.e. our Genesee County Prosecutor and Genesee
County Sheriff.
