DETAILS OF RESPONDENT

The respondent name is Amirul Faiz bin Abdul Latiff, 26 years old (Malay races).

He is from Pahang and a student in engineering technology courses (Degree).

Interviewer: Hello everyone. Today, we are going to make an interview on the

subject “The lack of volunteerism in blood donation among students in UTHM”

Interviewer: What is your name?

Candidate: Amirul Faiz Bin Abdul Latiff

Interviewer: Which faculty are you from?

Candidate: I’m from Faculty of Engineering Technology (FTK).

Interviewer: What is the type of your blood?

Candidate: I’m an O.

Interviewer: Have you ever donated your blood?

Candidate: I haven’t.

Interviewer: Why do you think people donate their blood?

Candidate: I think they donate their blood because their awareness towards

blood donating, maybe they are going towards collecting stamps, collecting

SMAP or certificate, maybe.

Interviewer: In your opinion, why do people reluctant to donate their blood?

Candidate: As people haven’t donate their blood, I think they are afraid with the

idea of blood and the needle itself. I think they are, might be some of them,

requirement of blood donating they are not obeyed. For example, their lifestyle

or their physical activities.

Interviewer: Have you experiencing yourself donating blood? And how are you

feeling?

Candidate: I haven’t donated, so I have no feeling about that. However, I have

conducted twice blood donation program.

Interviewer: Suggest the best way to encourage people to take part in blood

donating.

Candidate: I think the first thing is like to let them know that there is nothing wrong

about blood donating and there is nothing to be afraid of needle and blood

because at the end of the day, this is something very good and will bring back

something to the community.

Interviewer: Thank you for your cooperation. Thank you again.

Analysis:
This interview session is about the lack of volunteerism in blood donation among

students in UTHM through one Malay student in UTHM named Amirul. In the

interview, the respondent said he never donate blood. This is due to certain

condition that he does not fulfill therefore he cannot donate blood. However, he

involved twice in blood donation program that proved his motivation and interest

into blood donation. He stated that majority of the student did not join the blood

donation program because their fear of needle and the blood itself. Plus, some

of them are not able to donate due their physical condition or their lifestyle. From

this interview, it can be concluded that students are not motivated to join the

blood donation due to some restriction that they have to follow in order to enable

them to donate the blood.
