Proposed thesis title : CAMPAIGN ON GRAFFITI AS A RELEVANT INDICATOR OF POLITICAL

PROPAGANDA AND ITS INADEQUACY TO SOCIAL ACCEPTABILITY

Introduction
A. Brief Description :

The motives of graffiti as a form of political protest, the use of street art as propaganda, how it
contributed to socio political evolution.

B. Statement of the problem :

Finding people’s perspective on political street art, and showcasing its positive results in the
community and its relevance to political partipication.

C. Claims, evidences and trends that support the existence of the problem

“An anarchic expression, the politics of graffiti art is important, particularly given our situation
where much of the regulations in our society are being questioned. Often the messages out in
the streets speak to what is happening in society.” Emily C. (Oct. 25, 2011) Occupying the
Walls: Graffiti As Political Protest
Source : https://hyperallergic.com/38778/occupying-the-walls-graffiti-as-political-protest/

“In many cities, graffiti is associated with decay, with communities out of control, and so it is
outlawed. In some cities, it is legal, within limits, and valued as a form of social expression.
“Street art”, graffiti’s more formal cousin, which is often commissioned and sanctioned, has a
firmer place in communities, but can still be an important form of “outsider” expression.”

“Graffiti is arguably the most relevant art form of our time, yet it is attacked, destroyed, and
routinely commodifed in the service of gentrification.”

“In Zimbabwe, women have been arrested for road painting to express dissatisfaction with the
socio- political landscape. In Palestine, graffiti rebel politics includes messages, phrases,
slogans, and images from religious and culture groups. In Lebanon graffiti has become
modern and stylized, with inclusive messages to unite the masses rather then divide the
politics. Everywhere around the world, people are speaking out with art.”
Sara S. (May 14, 2013)
Source: https://dstarlip.wordpress.com/

“Graffiti is a popular topic in the sociological, criminological, and linguistic literature with
several book length treatments of various types of graffiti including tagging, gang graffiti,

murals, and “bombings”. Yet, political sociologists have paid little attention to the role of graffiti
as a form of contentious politics despite the often political nature of graffiti messages.”
Lisa K. W. (May 2013)

“As such, the graffiti helps reveal the present but unstated visual hegemonic order of the
space by being an obvious violation of it. Further, by writing graffiti writers affirm their anti-
authoritarian position and, by specifically writing on H&M stores at this particular moment they
align themselves with Revok's cause thus making their acts a form of contentious political
participation”

“Most graffiti is illegal, but then how illegal it is can be a very good indicator of the democratic
state of a country. While in most countries you can get fined if caught with a spray can in your
hand there are others where you can be detained and charged with a criminal offence.”

Proposed thesis title : A PROPOSAL ON SUBSTITUTE GUIDE OR MANUAL FOR TROUBLED

COUPLES WHO REFUSES TO SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP OR COUNSELING AROUND METRO
MANILA

Introduction

A. Brief Description :

Men Are from Mars Women are From Venus is a theoretical analysis of psychological
differences between men and women. This book aims to help married couples or even regular
couples to cope up with each other’s differences.

B. Statement of the problem :

It is estimated that 42-45% percent of first marriages end in separation, yet the Philippine law
does not provide divorce inside the country. What’s the other way of providing vision that
doesn’t require legal actions or counseling?

C. Claims, evidences and trends that support the existence of the problem

“There are many reasons why people say no to couples counseling. Many people don’t want to
explore an intimate part of their lives with a stranger. They “consider themselves to be very
private, and it can feel quite uncomfortable to ‘air out the dirty laundry’ to someone they don’t
know,” said Silvina Irwin, Ph.D, a clinical psychologist in Pasadena, Calif., who works with
couples and is certified by the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused
Therapy.” What to Do When Your Partner Doesn’t Want to Attend Couples Counseling
Margarita Tartakovsky, M.S. (July 8, 2018) Source: https://psychcentral.com/blog/what-to-do-

“"When I realized that the separation was inevitable, these books really helped me navigate
everything," she says. Frank was hardly an avid consumer of the genre: Previously, she'd only
read the occasional parenting advice book.” Self-Help Books: Why Women Can't Stop Reading
Them Kiri B. (June 10, 2009)

“"We merely ask that they consider the possibility that divorce, while it may indeed provide quick
legal remedies for some seemingly 'failed marriages,' might end up destroying even those
marriages that could have been saved by dialogues or the intervention of family, friends, pastors
and counselors," Archbishop Romulo Valles, president of the CBCP, said.” Legalizing divorce in

“The number and proportion of Filipinos who are separate has been increasing over time —
demonstrating that the denial of legal remedies to those seeking to dissolve their union has
largely been an ineffective way of upholding the policy of the state to keep families together,” she

“With divorce out of the question, Go did the next-best thing. She filed for an annulment. But
they're expensive and out of reach for many Filipinos, whose jobs bring them only a few dollars a
day.” Divorce Is Prohibited In The Philippines, But Moves Are Underway To Legalize It
Michael Sullivan (May 23, 2018) Source:

philippines-but-moves-are-underway-to-legalize-it

“Currently, the only legal recourse available to Filipinos who want to exit a failed union is through
an annulment or a petition for legal separation. These two options have different grounds and end
results. Annulment is an expensive and a tedious legal battle, especially if one party is not
cooperating and is against the petition. To be granted an annulment, issues must have taken
place before the marriage, since annulment nullifies the marriage.” PH divorce bill status: It's
complicated Christine Cudis (Feb. 14, 2019)
https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1061868

“Most Filipinos who wish to end their marriage resort to informal separation. Ideally, couples need
to apply for a legal separation that provides them with legal sanction to live separately, but in
reality most couples, especially the poor, just live separately without going through this legal
procedure. Although most Filipinos still value marriage, the proportion who separate from their
spouse, both legally and informally, is increasing. Numbers of annulment and nullity cases filed at
the Office of the Solicitor-General (OSG) has increased from 4,520 in 2001 to 11,135 in 2014.
Census and survey data also show a similar trend.” The rise of divorce, separation, and
cohabitation in the Philippines Jeofrey Abalos (July 10, 2017)
http://www.niussp.org/article/the-rise-of-divorce-separation-and-cohabitation-in-the-philippines/

“As in Europe, Latin America, and parts of Asia, cohabitation has increased rapidly in the
Philippines- from 5% of reproductive aged women in 1993 to over 14% in 2013. This increase is
dramatic and surprising, especially given the slow change in other family behaviors, for example
low divorce rates and continued high fertility, and also the persistent influence of the Catholic
Church.”

D. Significance of the study

In our country where divorce is not provided by the law, large number of marriages end in
separation and most individuals don’t see counseling as an easy option or they tend to shy away
from it. Men Are From Mars Women Are From Venus aims to help couples understand each
other’s individuality and to help them strengthen and nurture their relationship.

skateboarders continue their struggle in getting support from the government and the public.

C. Claims, evidences and trends that support the existence of the problem

Introduction

A. Brief Description

This is a campaign on creating awareness about our country’s agriculture is at risk and
motivate the younger generation ages 24 below to be keen on taking over agriculture.

B. Statement of the problem

Filipinos has the stigma of farming being a lucrative job and it requires a lot of manual labor
because we lack innovation when it comes to agriculture, we still use traditional methods when it
comes to farming. The youth would rather go to the city or work overseas than continue farming
tradition, for them, it is not a way out of poverty.

C. Claims, evidences and trends that support the existence of the problem

“There might come a time when the country will not have enough farmers and fishermen to grow
and produce food, he warned.” Kristine L. Alave (Sept 8, 2011)
Source: https://business.inquirer.net/18611/philippines-is-running-out-of-farmers

“A lot of students especially children of farmers end up taking up other courses or pursuing other
fields which can be seen in the decline of students enrolling in agriculture courses,” Uy said. “At
first, most of them don’t want to be engaged in agribusiness or become farmer because of what
conventional farming has done—it has not only made our food unhealthy but it also destroyed the
environment and the worst part of it all is it has kept our farmers even poorer.” Ramon Uy (Oct.
14, 2015)
Source: https://business.inquirer.net/200741/young-pinoys-meet-the-aging-agri-challenge

“The farmers lack support, training and a moral boost. First, they lack basic skills in farming. Many
are not educated or are only elementary graduates.” Agriculture is dying in the Philippines Sara
Soliven De Guzman (June 18, 2018)
Source: https://www.philstar.com/opinion/2018/06/18/1825542/agriculture-dying-philippines

“Another problem is the decreasing number of people engaged in agriculture. Farming as a

profession has become less attractive to the young and educated people. Average age of farmers
is 57 years and average level of education is primary.” Farm Land Policy and Financing Program
for Young Generation in the Philippines by Marilyn M. Elauria, Ph. D.
Source: http://ap.fftc.agnet.org/ap_db.php?id=448&print=1

“they also perceived that agriculture programs are less attractive, less useful, and less suitable to
the new generation. This is because according to them the young generations of today do not
want to work in the farm anymore which contributed to the decline of enrolment in the agriculture
programs.” Perceptions of Faculty and Students on the Agriculture Programs of ISU-Cabagan by

““I saw so much potential in what farming can be in the Philippines. And having land made me
realize I can do this. They told me farming is for old people, for those who have retired. That didn’t
stop me. When I first hung out at the farm, I wanted to be a farmer because I saw it as my way to
help a lot of people.” Millenials are the Future of Farming by Maan D’Asis (February 1, 2017)
Source: http://fnbreport.ph/features/agriculture/millennials-are-the-future-of-farming-maanp-

D. Significance of the study

Future generations should be aware of how can agriculture alleviate poverty and how it has the
possibility of helping our economy. This study aims to inform people with the help of lessening the
stigma. We should acknowledge the problem even more because this is becoming a really huge
threat to our country’s food security.
