LEARNING OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
1. Understand with support specific information and details of a song by listing at
least 2 names of the children in the task sheet provided.
2. Recognise and reproduce with support the /Ɔ:/ sound.

ACTIVITIES i. Pre-lesson:
1. Pupils listen to an audio of different greetings from other countries.
2. Pupils guess the general topic of the day which is different countries.
3. Flash cards of different countries are shown. Teacher introduces the name of
each country.
4. Pupils repeat after teacher.
5. Pupils match each name of the country to the correct flag (QS).
ii. Lesson Development:
1. Pupils listen to the song and point to the correct flags.
2. Pupils are introduced to the /Ɔ:/ sound.
3. Pupils sing the song.
4. Pupils list the names of the children in the task sheet provided, while listening to
the song (DL).
- More able group: list 4
- Less able group : list 2
5. Teacher plays the song again and pupils exchange their task sheet to check
answers (Peer Assessment).
iii. Post Lesson:
1. A set of questions based on the picture is asked by teacher.
2. Pupils answer by taking part in a Run Around activity (DL/FA).

3. Pupils are introduced to how people from different countries are called (e.g.: I’m
from America. I’m American) by using flashcards of flags.
4. Pupils repeat after teacher.
ii. Lesson Development:
1. Pupils’ attention is directed to the pictures of the boys in page 7.
2. Pupils are asked what the boys are doing.
3. The flags of the countries are placed on the board.
4. Pupils are introduced to the sentence structure. (DL)

5. Pupils are divided into four groups. Group 1 and 2 will role play Set A, while group
3 and 4 will role play Set B.
6. Pupils from group 1 and 3 will pick a flash card of a flag and pupils from group 2
and 4 will ask “Where are you from?” They will continue to follow the sentence
structure according to their sets. (Peer Assessment)
iii. Post Lesson:
1. In pairs, pupils are provided with flags from different countries to colour.
2. Pupils exchange flags with different pairs and guess their friends countries and
nationality. (FA)
3. A summary of the lesson is provided.

(e.g.: a) What time do you get up?
b) What do you do after school?

1. Pupils turn to page 8 of their textbook.
2. Pupils look at the pictures and text on pg. 8.
3. Pupils guess where they can find a similar text.
4. Pupils guess what the children in the picture do every day.
5. Pupils guess the meaning of words by pointing to the pictures provided in the
textbook as audio (text) is played.(QS)
6. Pupils read along with the audio again.
7. Pupils answer simple comprehension questions orally to show understanding.

8. Individually, pupils read the text in the textbook again.
9. Pupils answer ‘Yes/No’ questions provided.
