“Debate about and support your essay”

The evolution and development of the International Physical Distribution has been marked
by the twentieth century that gave the starting point of modernization, where the industries
of the textile, hydroelectric, beer and cement industries were born. Additionally, there is a
boom in the production of coffee and sugar, all this economic momentum added to the US
investments in Colombia made the needs of port modernization (Buenaventura initially)
and the evaluation of railways become a high impact need to meet the needs of the national
and international market. During the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st
century, the country has reached 120,000 kilometers of roads that connect the vast majority
of the capital cities of the department with the different ports and borders, but despite all
the progress made in history, The issue of "logistics" continues to be a driving force for those
who are dedicated to facilitating commercial relations within the country (imports) and
abroad (exports).

The paneling activity in Colombia is the second rural agro-industry after coffee, generating
353,366 direct jobs and development support in different regions of the country.

The Panela production chain is composed of various private and public actors, and
productive and commercial links. The direct actors are the cane cane producers, the cane
processors or beneficiaries of the panelera cane (trapiches) and the intermediaries of the
cane transport system.

The commercial links of the Chain are constituted by local, municipal and regional wholesale
markets, whose direct agents are wholesale merchants that dispatch to the centrals of
supply, wholesale squares, satellite squares, supermarkets and hypermarkets, whose main
actors are the chain stores. The retail market is covered by rural and urban stores.
Shopkeepers are direct agents of greater importance, who place a good amount of the
product to the final consumer. The National Agricultural Exchange also acts as a facilitating
means for the commercialization of the product.

The links corresponding to consumption are made up of the demand of the national and
foreign markets. Agents are responsible for distributing the products of the industry as an
input for human or animal food products and exporters do the same. Institutional support
actors include the National Fund of the FEDEPANELA Panela, the consumer leagues, the
Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and Proexport.
