I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards Demonstrates understanding of volume of solid figures and meter reading
B. Performance Standards Is able to apply knowledge of volume of solid figures and meter reading in
mathematical problems and real-life situations.
C. Learning  Read and interpret electric meter readings. M6ME-IVd-10
Competencies/Objectives Specific Objectives:
1. Read and interprets electric meter reading.
2. Record the reading shown by the dials of the electric meter.
3. Wise use of electricity.

III. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson Drill
or presenting the new Mental Computation: Give me a number that is
lesson a) one more than 9
b) one more than 99
c) one more than 999
What happens to 9 when you add 1?
 Review on place value and the relationship of each digit to another
digit in a given number.
B. Establishing a purpose for  The teacher will show different electrical appliances commonly
the lesson found at home.
 Elicit from them which of these consume the most electricity.
 Ask the pupils how much they pay for their monthly electric bill. Get
some reactions.
 How would you help lessen your electric consumption? Why?

C. Presenting Present the problem posted in Engage part and give enough time to the pupils
examples/instances of the to understand the problems.
new lesson Mr. Dela Cruz is computing his monthly electrical consumption. Based
on his electric bill, last month he was able to consume 125 Kilowatthours (kWh}.
When he checked his digital electric meter, the reading is 00199 kWh. How
many kilowatt-hours did Mr. Dela Cruz consume this month?
Observe the meter readings below. (TG p.302)
Teacher will ask questions regarding the picture…
What is the present reading of Mr. Dela Cruz?
What is the previous reading of Mr. Dela Cruz?
What is the electric consumption of Mr. Dela Cruz?
How did you find Mr. Dela Cruz electric consumption?
What operation did you use?
What did we subtract?
How did you get the readings?

D. Discussing new concepts Show the video of “How to Read Your Electric Meter”.
and practicing new skill #1 Teacher will show some illustrations of an electric meter and let the pupils
identify the readings with correct units of measure.

Read and interpret the dials on the electric meter below.

Answer:

E. Developing mastery Group Activity

(Leads to Formative Group I. Read each set of dials below and write the readings in the space
Assessment) provided ..

Group 2. A. Draw a dial to show the readings.

1. 6 614 3. 6 524
2. 5 148 4. 7 035
Group 2 B. Give the difference of:
1. 1 & 2
2. 3 & 4
3. 2 & 5
4. 7& 3
Which has the greatest difference?
Which pair will have the biggest bill? Explain

Group 3. Set the dials of the following readings.

5 9 4 1

6 8 2 1

F. Making generalizations How do the dials of the electric meter move?

and abstractions about the How do you read the dials of a meter?
lesson To read correctly:
Read the dials from left to right.
If the pointer is between the two numbers, always take the lower number.
If the pointer falls between 9 and 0, write down 9 and reduce the reading
you've already taken for the dial on it's left by one.

G. Finding practical
applications of concepts TABLE OF ELECTRIC READINGS
and skills in daily living
Household Previous Present kwh Used
A 2 150 2 288
B 7 285 7 810
C 4 605 4 938
D 6 214 6 576
E 6 435 6 795

2.Study the table and compute the kwh used.

Discussion:
a)Which household consumed the most? the least?
b)Which two household consumed almost the same kwh? What can you say
about their bill?
c) As a member of the household, how can you lower your electric bill?
Why is it important to use electricity wisely?
H. Evaluating learning

I. Additional activities for Assignment:

application or remediation
1. Read your electric meter.
2. Bring your own electric bill.
IV. REMARKS
V. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 80% on the
formative assessment
B. No. of learners who require additional
activities for remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of
learners who have caught up with the
lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require
remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked
well? Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my
principal or supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I
use/discover which I wish to share with
other teachers?
