Swoosh. Smoke-filled. Inhale. Blow it away. Stop right
there then go away. Smoking has been proven to be dangerous to one’s health especially for those second hand smokers and it can badly affect the environment. So, the government implemented executive order banning smoking in public places nationwide and smoking tobacco products. Smoking cigarettes, in public places should be banned because it’s offensive to the non-smokers who have to endure the stinking smell of smoke. Consider the typical public places – a mall entrance, an elevator, a park bench. People come to these places for leisure, to get to work, for necessity, so they should not be required to breathe another person’s poisonous tobacco fumes. Everyone knows that second hand smoking is linked to various dangerous health effects such as arterial inflammation, heart attacks and other cardiovascular diseases. Take note that those who directly inhale the fumes are more affected than the users. Another thing, our surroundings is already exposed from different smoke like from the vehicles let’s not add up cigarette smoke to air pollution because if everyone will continue it, there will be no clean air to breath in the next years. With this realization, local government units are enjoined to develop, promote and implement the Executive Order No. 26 titled “Providing for the establishment of smoke-free environments in public and enclosed spaces,” listed as a prohibited act smoking in “enclosed public spaces and public conveyances, whether stationary or in motion, except in DSA (designated smoking areas).” In this executive order, smoking are banned in public spaces and there are only designated areas where smokers can stay when heating up their “cancer sticks”. By banning smoking in public places, fewer people will
be seen smoking and, subsequently, outcast from society. It will be the thing that those people do; they will have to hide it. Banning smoking in public places is a wonderful idea and should be taken up by every single jurisdiction, municipality, city, hole- in-the-wall town and county in the country. Let’s conclude this argument by going a step further. If we can already see how banning public smoking would benefit our citizens and environment – protecting their health, peace of mind, homes and possessions – why stop there? Let’s ban smoking tobacco products altogether! Let’s rid our wonderful society of this evil poison, this killer of people, this addictive substance with no health value whatsoever. Banning public smoking benefits everyone, including the smoker. Oops it’s not allowed here anymore.
