Right Reverend Abbot:

May the Peace of our Lord in the manger be with you.

I write to inquire if a certain Dom Placid Ma. Acta is still associated with the Abbey of Our Lady
of Montserrat in Manila. It seems that a monk of that abbey, or any abbey for that matter, should
not be so well-travelled as this man is. This purported monk is present in the events of the
Archdiocese of Manila and other different dioceses in the Philippines, ranging from ordinations to
coronations of images. Many churchgoers around the country have been curious if a monk of his
stature is permissible to be out and about to that degree, as it is unbecoming in a monk’s life.

It seems as well that many have given him adulations such as “Deacon of the Century” or “National
Deacon” because of his outings. He is gaining quite a lot of traction from religious communities
and dioceses, and it looks as though he uses his talent for singing to his benefit. This may not suite
the life set before him as a member of the Subiaco Cassinense Congregation, and it is only wise
that this matter should be brought up to your good office’s kind attention.
