modern smart phone, tablet,
and smart watch. BLE does
not require an internet
connection for day-to-day
operation, and eliminates the
need for additional gateways.
As the control’s intelligence
is replicated in each node,
there is no single point of
failure. Communicating
between devices occurs only
when necessary with control
connections that are fast
and seamless; open the app
on your smart device and
connect to the network.
Most importantly, the system
includes multiple layers
of security to ensure your
lighting system is protected.
Within the system, multiple
networks can be set with
multiple administrator
password settings to provide
the functionality needed for
the smallest components
of a project. As the network
setup is part of the app
functionality, there is no
additional cost to implement
as many networks as
necessary.

How it works

Secure cloud technology
ERCO bluetooth allows for firmware updates
over the network, allowing any kind of
changes to be made over-the-air. In this fully
distributed and symmetric architecture, any
unit can go offline and catch up from others
when they return back online.
Integrating sensors and push buttons
The app for smartphones, tablets and smart-
watches is the most elaborate user interface.
Besides the app, traditional wall switches,
push buttons, the scene controllers and many
other control points can be used.
A robust mesh network
ERCO bluetooth low energy provides a mesh
network where all the intelligence of the
system is replicated in every node and, in
such a way, creates a system with no single
points of failure.
Ease of use
ERCO bluetooth technology allows
users to control luminaires directly
from their smart devices. All the
user needs to do is download the
Casambi app to their iOS or Android
device. With intuitive gesture control,
the software has been designed
to streamline commissioning and
future programming changes. Once
downloaded, fixtures self-identify
and can be labeled with a description
and picture. Multiple control
parameters can be adjusted, making
project personalization possible with
just a few clicks. Simple tap gestures
turn fixtures on or off, sliding
your finger side-to-side adjusts
brightness, while slide up and down
adjusts color temperature. Once the
basics of controls have been quickly
understood, more advanced features
can be easily implemented. Users
can create time-clock driven events,
including sunrise-sunset, develop
scenes, or take advantage of the
unique ‘Gallery’ function (below).
Gallery function
The gallery function enables in-
dividual luminaires or luminaire
groups to be controlled via a
self-photographed image of the
room. Users simply take photos
of a space, or upload a floor
plan to the app, and mark the
positions of the luminaires. The
images then appear in a gallery
in the app, and users simply tap
the one they want to control.

Grouping
Grouping luminaires works the
same way grouping apps in your
smart device does. After grouping,
all luminaires in the group can
be controlled all together or the
group can be opened for
individual control.
Daylight sensor
ERCO bluetooth allows dimming of
luminaires when daylight is available,
to achieve maximum lighting quality
and reduced energy consumption. They
are standalone or integral.
Motion sensor
Motion sensors save energy as lighting
is only on when it is actually needed.
Remote access
ERCO bluetooth allows the user to
control devices remotely, while still
remaining highly secure, with password
access.
iBeacon™
ERCO bluetooth has integrated iBeacon
technology, so any ERCO bluetooth
node can work as an iBeacon sender
and no additional investment needs to
be made.
Wireless switches
While light switches aren’t required,
they can be easily employed if desired,
with either traditional wall-mounted
switches or portable wireless options.
Scalability with Site
With bluetooth technology, one
can manage larger installations. The
feature allows you to control multiple
networks simultaneously, create site-
wide scenes and site-wide timers.
Simple integration
Bluetooth technology is
constantly evolving, and at an
even faster speed than most
other technologies. Changes in
the Bluetooth market are now
happening on a monthly basis, as
will ERCO’s offerings. Due to this
constant flux, ERCO offers two
options for bluetooth-enabled
luminaires; integrated into the
fixture, or as an accessory, which
would allow for updating pre-
existing fixtures with a module.

A: No. In fact, the app is free and there is no
need for control wires or a dimming panel, so it
is very cost effective.

firmware updates to ensure system benefits
from ongoing improvements.
Q: How many luminaires can be conrolled via
ERCO bluetooth?
A: ERCO offers solutions which allow you to
control a group of fixtures with one Bluetooth

spaces within the app?
A: Once the Site feature has been enabled,
control of multiple networks can be accom-
plished. With an internet connection this can
also allow for off-site control and management
of a system supporting campus or multiple
location installation.
Q: Does ERCO BLE require a permanent Inter-
net connection to remain in operation?
A: An Internet connection is not necessary for
normal operation; it is only needed for user
interface configurations to be sent or recalled
from the cloud service.
Q: What if I move a Bluetooth track head from
one location to another?
A: All existing control parameters associated
with that luminaire will remain in place and
effect. Users can then re-program the luminaire
as necessary within the app to reflect new
requirements.
