TO SOLVE THE URBAN model problem and Reddy

Mikksproblems on Excel

INTRODUCTION
Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program that is used to record and analyse numerical
data. Think of a spreadsheet as a collection of columns and rows that form a table.
Alphabetical letters are usually assigned to columns and numbers are usually assigned to
rows. The point where a column and a row meet is called a cell. The address of a cell is
given by the letter representing the column and the number representing a row. Let's
illustrate this using the following image.

OBJECTIVE
 To familiar with Excel software
 To apply practically the Excel software to solve a given problem
 To know the way of solving techniques
Problem statement: (URBAN Planning Problem)

Procedure.
1st open the excel.and now entering the values Now to solve it 1st you need to edit the
solver ad: for that go to File and then select option as shown Now after this the following
window will appear i-e you have to select the add-in and then select the Go
 So the question solved the excel .

Again you have to mark the “solver Add-in” and then ok. Furthermore go to the Data tab
and you will see the Solver Add in
Now go for the constraints addition in solver adds also select maximization and as well as
the objective function. In that menu you can Add, delete, edit the constraints.

AFTER THIS SOLVE THE RIDDY MIKKS PROBLEM ON

EXCEL

Problem #1
Reddy Mikks produces both interior and exterior paints from two raw material M1, M2.
The following table provides the basic data of problem. A market survey indicates that
the daily demand for interior paint cannot exceed that for exterior paint more than 1
ton. Also, the maximum daily demand for interior paint is 2 tons. Reddy Mikks wants to
determine the optimum product mix of interior and exterior paints that maximizes the
total daily profit?
Conclusion:
From this I conclude that we can solve the problem through excel which is used as a
solver in which we are doing program as mentioned all the things in a procedure. So in
this case we are entering different values in cells and draw different constraints
coefficients to solve the problem.
