INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT)
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a
system of interrelated
computing devices, mechanical
and digital machines, objects,
animals or people that are
provided with unique
Identifiers (UIDs) and the ability
to transfer data over a network
without requiring human-to-
human or human-to-computer
interaction

Formative Assessment “
assessment for learning”
rather than
“assessment of learning”
Benefits of formative assessment:
● Use as a diagnostic tool
● Plan instruction
● Provide feedback to students and
teachers
● Involve students in their own learning
● Motivate students
(DuFour, DuFour, Eaker, & Many, 2010)
Formative Assessment / Digital Tools
● Technology-enhanced
○ TIMELY data on learning (students & teachers)
○ Permanent record
○ Engaging
○ Making thinking public
○ Clear connection between the use of the technology
and learning
○ Efficiency in data collection ○ Access to devices has
increased
Examples of digital tools:
 Google Forms
 Socrative
 Kahoot
 Quizizz
 Survey Monkey
 Formative
 Plickers
 Padlet
 Your LMS
Google Forms is a tool
that allows collecting
information from users
via a personalized
survey or quiz. The
information is then
collected and
automatically connected
to a spreadsheet. The
spreadsheet is
populated with the
survey and quiz
responses
The ICT, Socrative, is a
tool for fun and
effective formative
assessment. This ICT
allows teachers to
engage students on a
range of devices for
class activities.
Teachers can use this
ICT to record students’
results, and evaluate
student progress
Kahoot is an online questionnaire application
that allows teachers to create quizzes, surveys
or discussion questions to be answered by
students. What makes Kahoot different from
similar applications is the visual appeal and
playfulness incorporated in the quizzes. Each
quiz, called a “Kahoot,” is more engaging when
played in a group setting as there is an
element of friendly competition built into the
game
SurveyMonkey is an online survey
software that helps you to create
and run professional online
surveys. It is very powerful and a
well known online application.
The tool also allows you to set answer
choice randomization, present a survey
completion bar, add auto numbered
pages, provide options to make
questions require answers to proceed
and control data input by validation
(users cannot enter text in a numbers
only box).
QUIZIZZ
Quizizz is a game-based educational
app, which brings multiplayer activities
to classrooms and makes in-class
exercises interactive and fun. Using
Quizizz, students can do in-class
exercises on their electronic devices.
Unlike other educational apps, Quizizz
has game characteristics like avatars,
themes, memes and music, which are
entertaining in the learning process.
Quizizz also allows students to
compete with each other and
motivates them to study
