We are grateful to those who give of
their time and care to bring Holy
Communion to our parishioners who cannot make it to
church due to sickness or infirmity. If you know of
anyone who would like to receive communion in their
home or while hospitalized at West Lincoln Hospital,

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
The Prayer Shawl Ministry
continues to create handcrafted
shawls for parishioners, their
families and friends who are
coping with illness, loneliness,
pain or trouble. They are available to anyone who
needs one. Please call the office to request a shawl or
lap blanket or if you would like to join this ministry.
We welcome you and invite you to share in the spiritual and social activities of your parish.

ones and friends you wish to have remembered in

Our God is a not a God of
condemnation and retribution
not does God call us to
condemn or seek vengeance
– our God is a God of love
that redeems and transforms;
and God calls us to love in
the same way.
We often try to gauge God
by our standards, to measure him by our yardsticks, to
define God by our systems of reasoning and
understanding. But the God revealed by Jesus defies
our explanations and designs. Our response to Jesus'
call to be his disciples begins with opening our minds
and spirits to become what God intends us to be.
To become “sons and daughters of the resurrection”
we must embrace that Gospel vision of love of neighbor
as brothers and sisters in Christ, all of us children of
God.
Resurrection is the promise and hope of our faith as
Christians – but resurrection is also an attitude, a
perspective for approaching life and sorting out the
decisions and complexities of our lives. In dying to our
own worst impulses, disappointments, and the
sometimes-overwhelming sense of hopelessness, we
can rise to the heights of the life and love of God.
ANNUAL OFFENSE DECLARATIONS
Our Responsible Faith Ministry Committee would like
to remind all high-risk volunteer ministers that it is time
for the signing of annual Offence Declarations. If you
have completed a Police Check for participation in any
ministry, please ensure you have signed an OD form to
keep this current! This is a mandatory requirement
for all volunteers who encounter our vulnerable
sector in their work, including volunteer drivers,
ministers to the Homebound, Children's Liturgy and
youth group volunteers. OD forms can be found on the
small table in the front vestibule of the church, and
should be signed and submitted to the parish office or in
the weekly collection basket no later than December 1.
Committee Members will also be in attendance at our
Annual Christmas Bazaar on November 23 to collect
signatures and answer questions. Thank you for your
continued commitment to ministry at St. Helen's Parish!
NOVEMBER 11
Canadians pause today in
silence to remember those
who died in war and to pray
for the victims of aggression
and inhumanity throughout
the world. This is a day to
pray for peace, to consider
what we are doing as
individuals, as a community
and as a nation to bring
God’s peace into the world.
This is a day when a believing community should
rededicate itself by prayer and action to the ideals Jesus
gives us in the Beatitudes.
CATHEDRAL APPEAL UPDATE
It has now been six months since the launch of the
Cathedral Appeal, and as of October 31, 2019, the
appeal has raised $532,442.19 in cash donations and
$132,009.35 in pledges. This brings the total raised to
$664,451.54 or 55% of the $1,200,000 goal. We
continue to thank God for the generosity of so many.

DEO GRATIAS COLLECTION
Please support the Deo Gratias Collection of November
16/17. All revenue will go to our Clergy Aid Society.
We are grateful to God, and to our retired clergy in the
Diocese of St. Catharines who, from the time of their
ordination, have cared for us and our spiritual needs. In
thanksgiving to God for them and their years of faithful
